Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

There are some areas of this country that produce scientists and engineers in good numbers. But they are relatively small geographically isolated areas with distinct cultures. It has been like that for well over a hundred years, which suggests deep and persistent cultural forces are at work.

It is silly to accuse Trump of being unconservative or un-American for simply recognizing that reality.

We also don’t tinker anymore. You don’t have your garage guy working on an idea. You didn’t have to be an educated scientist to tinker in your garage with stuff.

It’s all app development and code.

Trades are lost arts as well.

Hard to be a garage guy when your family doesn't have a home

It's not homeless, its' people renting until they're 40. It's people living in places they don't have garages because their family could only afford a small house with little land.

Also doesn't help that basically any care after like 2007 isn't really easily maintained by a normal person.

Oh I thought you might have been bothered with the "fine people on both sides" hoax the winter of death threat or the school moms needing fbi investigation or the...
