Greenland wanting to talk to the US about its own independence is different from Greenland wanting to be a part of the United States. If we are just supporting Greenland’s independence then none of my concerns regarding anything Trump has said is still applicable. I don’t care if Greenland is part of Denmark, I only care that we don’t use the US military or economic sanctions of any kind so that we can claim Greenland.

I swear I’m just on an elaborate prank show sometimes. In addition to tariffs simply being a tax on American consumers to begin with, we have this agency. It’s quite literally where the C in CBP comes from.
 
And though I did get a chuckle from Kaine, I don’t actually think I even understand the point of confirmation hearings if the Senators aren’t going to even pretend to care about anything but scoring political points with their base. We’ve already ascertained that Hegseth has a spotty record with fidelity and thinks the military is too woke. If you’re not going to ask him genuine questions about how he’d handle important issues related to the defense of the United States, just yield your ****ing time. Same thing with Senators who use their time to do nothing but deflect or defend nominees from criticism. Why show up and talk at all if you’re not going to ask questions to identify if the person leading the most advanced military in the world is the right person for the job?

Not at all, just a timely gripe. But it’s certainly gotten worse over the past 10-20 years. We desperately need term limits so elected officials can stop making careers out of delivering zingers on the Senate floor instead of vetting the unelected officials in charge of government agencies.
