Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

Nah, it just means something else right now based on current market conditions. You’re correct if the underlying assumption that *this* is the new baseline going forward is correct. If it’s not correct, advertisers will do something else and Twitter might not be a sound investment.

No - Now you can express your right to free speech without a completely AstroTurfed cancel mob coming after you. Responses to customer sentiment has always been a thing but what we saw under the OBama/Biden regime (there was no real power for Trump term 1) was completely fake bull**** probably funded via USAID.

Advertisers are of course plowing back into X because its the best social media site in the world for actual intellectual conversation.

I kind of admire the confidence with which you state your opinions as obvious facts.

Today I learned from Trump you can apparently just forcibly move an entire population with or without their consent and take their land with zero issues. I can’t believe I thought this would be the start of another long war. My bad, guys!

And like magic no migrants will be coming to the west without free food and shelter.

Can I get an update from team coinflip.

How happy are you so far?

Many saw all these patterns - Some pretended the media was still 'indepdendent'

I'm not even sure what issue the court would be resolving.

These are accepted terms between two parties.

Seems like grandstanding.

If you read the article Election Wizard read where it talked about the 60K who accepted it, there's an active lawsuit involving the buyout. Thats mainly while it was delayed.

I read up on it a bit and it sounds like the actual payment process might not be legal. I actually think it’d be a steaming hot pile of bull**** if anybody got in the way of the payments if the employees did take the buyout, but it’s technically a legally valid question.

Who is bringing up the lawsuit? Is it an actual interested party or a group designed to “resists”.

Not sure, but it might not matter if the payouts themselves are truly illegal, because all it’d take is another group after the deadline worried about fairness or wasted money or whatever to stop the payouts and screw over the employees that took them. Having it happen now is probably ideal, regardless of intent.

60,000 federal workers is about 2 percent of the federal workforce… so a tiny drop in the bucket. As far as legal issues… all of these employees will have to be put on administrative leave. Funds legally have to be earmarked for administrative leave which obviously hasn’t happened. Then let’s talk about the fine print which says if you accept the offer you are not allowed to take the issue to court if you don’t actually end up getting paid. And there is good reason to be skeptical that Elon will actually honor the offer considering he didn’t honor the very same offer to Twitter employees. So far the only guarantee we’ve been given is basically: “trust me, bro.” Not to mention him and his DOGE boys are civilians and not politically appointed… accessing all sorts of classified data without any kind of security clearance. There’s a lot of sketchy activity going on here whether you care to admit it or not. Thankfully my job is safe as it is codified into law.
