As a German, I don't want to hear the question “how could this happen?” again. Imagine if Hitler had also had the digital & monetary power that exists in the USA today. A power that goes far beyond military power. We live in a time that is much more dangerous than 80 years ago or in the times of the “cold war”.

The citizens of the world's largest democratic power have voluntarily chosen to abolish ethical, moral, social and democratic values.

I really don't comprehend this sentence... but I remember the previous administration legitimately tried to stand up a ministry of truth and bragged about ignoring our courts
 
when rebuked by courts or a coequal branch compare the Trump admin reaction to Biden reaction.

Hegseth doing PT with deployed GIs then dropping knowledge bombs on Europe about NATO in a pretty sharp speech.

I don’t remember any of our other Sec Defs being able to do that
 
I like when he was asked what concessions would be sought by Russia in negotiations over Ukraine. He just answered a different question no one asked instead.

Speaking of ministries of truth the Trump regime is refusing press passes to media that don't call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.

I also remember most of our sec defenses having actual leadership positions in the military.

Lloyd Austin was a 40 year military vet, West Point graduate, General, CENTCOM, etc.

Mark Esper was a 30 year military vet (though mostly national guard), West POint graduate, Lieutenant colonel

Jim Mattis was a 40 year military vet, Marine, General, CENTCOM, etc.

Hegseth about 10 years of national guard, Princeton Graduate, Major.

At best you can compare him Esper. I know Mattis and Austin commanded more authority though.
