Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

The left is offended the president has control over the military.

Control ?

Odd choice of word.
Autocrats, monarchs or tyrants control the military

US Presidents over see the military. Under constitutional, congressional guidelines
Odd choice of word. Telling ?
Let the reader decide

These are things that happened and easily referenceable
However appears the poster too lazy or dishonest to get his history in order

What are the constitutional guidelines you speak of?

Do you actually think the president doesn’t control the military?

Civics is lacking with you and the left it seems.

I will not join my brethren in being outraged an incoming President would fire a very high ranking military official, just like I’m not outraged if a President picks his own Cabinet.

That said, calling a man with his accolades and that Donald Trump himself promoted to Air Force Chief of Staff an unqualified DEI hire as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is ****ed up. This isn’t a move to make the military more merit-based, it’s a move to get a person with fewer qualifications who thinks more like Trump and Hegseth in a position of power. Which is ultimately fine, but it doesn’t roll off the tongue as nicely as claiming merit is making a comeback.

Id care more if you noticed the first time

I’m truly struggling with the concept that I should be taken to task for not forcefully decrying every action of Biden, then using that as a justification for Trump’s actions. Just because you agree with Trump’s positions, you ignore people *cheering* Trump’s overreach and stick to me not suddenly abandoning my positions and becoming a Republican. Why is my burden of opposition so much higher than MAGA’s to you?

No... you coming here to tell me how bad something Trump is doing or may be doing, then simply saying "oh well yeah it was bad that Biden did it first... anybow, I'm voting for (D)

It's got your attention now... it didn't before. You shpuld be angry at the people setting the precedent... not the people following it

You posted the ****ing headline, not me. I am simply questioning whether or not you’re displaying a bias in suggesting I’m being a massive hypocrite by not forcefully arguing against Biden’s overreach while generally disregarding the open support of the same overreach from Trump by his supporters. I have not been on a soapbox calling Trump a Nazi or authoritarian with every action he takes or claiming democracy is doomed. When Trump appears to have broken the law, I will generally point out that he appears to have done so, and that I think it’s wrong. I’m not being unbiased myself, but I’m surely not being more aggressive than, say, thethe in displaying that bias.

And I don’t think government overreach should be given the same treatment as legal precedent. Hypocrisy and overreach are still hypocrisy and overreach even if the other side did it.

Trumps broken the law?

Eh, that was just shorthand for the things currently percolating in the court system, but it’s essentially the same as the discussion around Biden’s loan forgiveness plans or use of EOs. I’m not declaring the actions of the Trump Admin thus far to be objectively or definitively illegal, but at least presently there are questions being asked in courts across the country about whether he is.

Were you by chance open to the suggestion that Biden was not violating any laws when district courts ruled against him because SCOTUS hadn’t done so yet? If not, what was different about the situations beyond your opinion of the actions?

An economic slowdown that's going to happen spearheaded by Trump and Musk policies. Rich people pulling money out of the market is a canary in the coalmine.

Eh.. it was underway before Trump took office. Regardless, Trump tariffs will get the blame if he follows through.

Community Notes really can be fun sometimes. He must be reading the “real” polls.
