Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

It is a good thang if you got it by building a better or cheaper mousetrap.

Not a good thang if acquired through anti-competitive behavior.

The thang that makes it hard with a company like Amazon is they do both. The first should be celebrated. The second should be slapped down.

You are shadow boxing an argument I never made.

Is the 8% number retail or are you including Amazon’s other parts of its businesses

Yeah. Retail is 4%. Their cloud business is where their profit margin is much higher.

Doesn't change what I said about anti-competitive practices. Google Quidsi for a colorful example.

Monopolists are "price makers" not "price takers". Your describing a practice that is extremely consumer friendly.

Gross margins for Amazons top competitors
Walmart: ~25%
Target: ~27%
Best Buy: ~22%
Amazon: ~19%

I know you hate them and they are "impossible" to avoid, but Amazon has been enormously good for consumers.

Yes and no.

Because you're not considering the damage amazon marketplace and it's usefullness in SEO manipulation is to non-amazon marketplaces. Don't get me wrong. I'm not deluded that anyone wouldn't do what amazon is doing if they could. But own an echo devico like a fire stick, they really cram amazon content down your throat.

Amazon has the products, the distrobution etc.

AGain, don't get me wrong, you can not consider them a monopoly, it's OK.

DId you know that Amazon discontinued their Seller Fullfilled Prime option for 4 years? YOu know why? Because they wanted people to go into their warehouse system to be Prime sellers.

Secondarily sponsored results. You ever search for something on amazon then see a bunch of sponsored ****.

Start with a generic searhc for smart speaker, your first results are ****ty Temu level speakers that pay for sponsored results. then you have a handful of echo devices before the first non-amazon device, then more echo devices, even in a specific search like Sonos you see recommended products and more results that show products not related to your search. By controlling the marketplace you control what's most likely to be bought.

It would be like if Apple in their appstore when you searche dgoogle maps showed you apple maps.

Or the one I LOATHE, when you get a new windows PC and you use edge for it's job (downloading Chrome, Opera, etc.) it tries to convince you not to.

COVID accountability is coming soon too - Shame Fauchi got that pardon.

those 'preemptive' pardons need tested... fauci can spend the rest of his miserable dog slaughtering life in courtrooms testing

What should really be tested is that Biden wasn’t in a mental state where he could issue pardons.

I’m not sure you’ll ever get it

Sucks the Republican party sucks

MAGA is not without blame. They are responsible for Mike Johnson. The Matt Gaetz fiasco. They chased away fiscal conservatives like Bob Good and consistently call for primary folks like Chip Roy and Massie. Republicans in congress see that and know not to go against the edict or face the wrath
