Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

Thethe, this is pretty egregious example of ineptitude when it comes to national security. It isn't quite as big of a deal as some are making it out to be, but it isn't a nothing burger either. It's more of a "nothing bad happened, but it had the potential for something bad to happen" sort of situation.

If this happened under the Biden Admin, you would be calling for the heads of everyone involved.

This is where I’m at.

It’s really not that hard to check who is in a group chat. Walz needs to be fired (especially given the context of DOGE firing thousands of federal workers) and there needs to be an internal review how sensitive discussions take place. There’s simply no excuse for having this conversation with Goldberg in the thread.

'Pro-Palestinian' protest

HAHAHAHAHAHA

I don’t actually think it matters how you frame the protest. Either she committed violence or she didn’t. This is as American as a person can be. She’s been here since she was 7, excelled with her opportunity and participated in a demonstration and we’re pretending she should be deported for national security purposes.

Again, you’re providing the most impassioned defense of Clinton’s private server that I’ve heard in at least 8 years. What, we have a right to read what the Secretary of State is discussing just because it wasn’t in person?!

Except you are leaving out the part the information on the server was so damaging that HRC refused to comply with a subpoena and destroyed evidence. I'm aware these are small things to you.

Why are we limiting methods of communication to when they are in person - Of course certain things will be discussed without public knowledge.

But it does matter because if you think this is wrong then any conversation any administration has is subject to review. How can anything get done?

As mqt pointed out, they still have records of when meetings hapopen. So while the discussions aren't recorded, we do know that they spoke.

And we already have encrypted emails and servers on which to communicate. So I fail to see how that makes things more difficult to get done. And we could also simply develop our own messaging service on government issued phones that would be significantly less likely to hack, instead of relying on 3rd party apps.

OMG - They talked about a 'strike'. Is that a war plan or is that a continuation of policy from the last 10+ years?

I'm aware you have to reach because you all fell for another hoax.

You're so sadly predictable. Your inability to admit fault in the administration is depressing. None of these people care about you. YOu realize that right? You raw dogging this **** isn't helping anyone and you not acknowledging this stuff is sad.

What if someone got that information and gave it to the Houthis and they used it to start an attack.

You think 'committing' violence is the only thing that warrants you getting deported? How about contributing to planning? Attending meetings with radicalized members.

I remember you saying that some of hte deported gang members didn't have a 'criminal record' so they should be allowed to stay.

Where was the strike? Was it detailed int he chat?

You don't think the Houthis knew strikes were coming?

Waltz should 100% be fired.

That is easily the number one issue stemming from all of this.

…We’d never even know if Vance and Hegseth were complying with a subpoena because of how they chose to communicate. I don’t think the governments of today deserve extra credit just because technology has made it easier to hide things from the public.

Everyone else who shared classified information in that thread need to also be punished in some way. There’s no excuse for not checking who was in the group. If I shared disclosed work projects externally, I would immediately be fired at my job.

Your assumption of guilt is cute when we know through HRC's actions that she was guilty.

What was discussed on the Signal App is no different than if they were all in a room together chatting.

This is not an unfair take - I'm not sure any classified information was shared but not everything has been released.

Shouldn't the others in the chat known who was or wasn't part of the chat? I mean this isn't a fantasy football group chat here. If you're discussing classified information, I would assume you would know who you are sharing it with.

If you could be even a little unbiased, you could see that.

Unless they were all in that room and a reporter was sitting in the corner and no one noticed.

What sensitive information was discussed?

Its based on a the word of a reporter with a sketchy history.

I remember you saying that some of hte deported gang members didn't have a 'criminal record' so they should be allowed to stay.

The two things wrong here:

1) You have no evidence this person has done anything beyond attending the protest and being arrested for refusing to leave.

2) My issue is that were deporting people to a foreign prison without any due process to determine if they were even a gang member. The lack of a criminal record is not why I oppose their immediate deportation, it’s that we are just supposed to trust the government when they say these people are gang members because we deported them without providing any such evidence.

(1) I have no evidence just like you have no evidence she hasn't

(2) I have no issue with this - Great deterrent for future.

In this specific situation, I trust Goldberg over Hegseth given he’s shared screenshots and the government has confirmed the veracity of the story.

It's all classified information. There are different levels of classified information, but suffice to say, this isn't a discussion they wanted the rest of the world to know.
