This is one of the reasons I have a hard time believing things like the DOGE findings/cuts are truthful without any actual data to back it up. When they post they’re saving a family of 4 nearly $11,000, I should expect to have to spend about $11,000 less over the next few years.
But I can’t think of a way in which changes to tailpipe emissions rules will possibly save me and my family of four $11,000. You could maybe squint hard and find that the math is right on how much is saved in federal spending, but unless they start taxing me less as a result, this means nothing to me individually.
Imagine if we afforded this kind of energy to white collar crime and legal loopholes for the rich.
