Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

We’ve got to shift the Overton window and ensure we get a transition to 48. Once American wages go up they’ll never allow for this disaster to come back.

But yes, we need laws to stop theee things for good.
This serves as a phenomenal defense rationale for basically everything Joe Biden did. Student loans just needed to be in the national conversation so Dems could retain political power.

my experience with these IT consulting firms is more bad then good. From what I’ve read, the leadership at these firms is all Indian and they only hire Indians. It’s clearly a problem that needed some course correction.

I have had a lot of high quality coworkers who are H1-B who are talented and we benefited a lot from them. I understand the motivation and I don’t think it’s a disaster policy, but I think we’ll be worse off in the long run.

Yeah - we are playing by the same rules to carve out the future of the country. It’s about time.

My experience with these workers started 10+ years ago at PwC when they started outsourcing first year work.

Let’s just say they weren’t the best and brightest but we billed them out at 50% of the first years rate.

Yes - if we can’t fill internally and it’s needed we have flexibility.

The horror!
Large companies just get an additional market advantage over smaller firms. The environment Trump is providing that somehow appears poised to accelerate monopolization even further is my biggest concern of his Presidency thus far.

Yes that’s the narrative that will be pushed.

The bottom line is the American worker is going to see a huge boom from this policy. That’s the story that will prevail.

That’s the reality of what will happen! When you bake in exceptions at the disposal of the federal government and that federal government is meeting regularly with the tech oligarchs and the President is being showered with gifts and “investment” from those CEOs, you’re just opening the doors wide open for this. Hell, companies are giving the government equity stakes. If a competitor of Intel makes some massive breakthrough, does the government have a Fiduciary responsibility to stifle that innovation for the health of Intel? Do you think Intel or Lockheed Martin will have to pay $100,000 fees? Can a company feasibly exchange equity for an exemption? These are questions we shouldn’t have to ask.
