Moving Ozuna to the 60 day IL makes no sense from the team's perspective.
Get him off the DL and on to the Restricted List as soon as possible. If he's on the IL we have to pay him.

No way we are sellers. This team is far too good on paper. The offense is coming around and the pitching hasn’t been bad.
We will be shoppers for sure. And despite the teeth gnashing around here, will most likely be in first place by the middle of July. We have a brutal schedule coming up to be sure but then it eases up greatly....and we have a lot of pieces coming back for the stretch run - Travis and Ynoa etc - plus Pache has a new swing he’s working on that looks good.

Braves cannot move him to the restricted list. Insurance doesnt pay injured players until they are on the 60 day IL. Is that too hard to understand.

I wouldn't be surprised to see AA acquire any of the OFs, RHP or SP on this list.
Haniger and Peralta are well known target bats, but Adam Frazier from the Pirates really seems like a guy AA would target. He can handle cOF, and then switch to a utility role if needed.
The Tigers have absolutely botched the trade value of both Fulmer and Boyd, so I expect those arms to move first. Of course, that FO is so inept they could very well continue to waste those assets. Boyd could be this year's Gausman...hopefully with a better ending.
The number of RHP available out of the BP means AA would have to be actively trying not to get one to miss out. At least one should fall into his lap for a fungible warm body, so he probably needs to make that happen.

That’s what I felt like about last year vs this year, too. We had some tough luck with knocks to Acuna and Albies, and one huge stroke of bad luck with Soroka’s AT, but so many other things broke our way.
We really do need bullpen help. We’ve been overworking the effective guys and throwing scrubs into leverage situations all season. What we had last year wasn’t an embarrassment of riches, it was a necessity with a rotation that was as limited as ours was. This year isn’t that much different, and we have to play 100 more games. Shane Greene probably isn’t going to be enough.

Adam Frazier and Kendall graveman. You can never have too many miss state players. I'd be more than happy going Frazier and Rodriguez or graveman and haniger
This is factually false...
Smith and Matzek have thrown 20-21 IP each. There are 87 other BP arms that have thrown more innings.
No Braves BP pitcher has been overworked in any way, shape, or form. Snit's insistence on resting them so much in favor of stretching out the SP has cost the Braves chances at several wins already.

I like Frazier: Good fit anywhere in our lineup.
I like Mancini: cOFer, DH, potential replacement at 1B if FF goes.
I like Castellanos: cOFer, DH, ideal replacement for Ozuna.

It’s been both. But, the back end of the bullpen seems to routinely give up 7 runs a game, and Smiley sucks.

My recollection is that earlier in the season, it was different. Matzek and Minter were at the top of the league in apps. Recently, seems like it’s rebounded in the other direction.

I would think that given lingering Covid impacts on payroll that there would be plenty of teams interested in simply dumping expiring contracts. Maybe not for the best players, but should be some guys available for next to nothing.
I've been talking about Rodriguez for months. He's the exception to the idea that trading for pieces earlier will cost a substantial premium IMO. We all like to have fun and play the "If I Was AA" game, so...
1.) Go get Frazier and Rodriguez NOW - if you have to slightly overpay (and I mean THE SLIGHTEST OF SLIGHTLY) do it. Considering what the mood in the clubhouse is like after the Ozuna debacle and the pen's struggles, you need to do SOMETHING to show these guys that you're going to get them help.
2.) Sit down with Freddie and clear the air - if Liberty is holding his extension up, make *amn sure HE knows that. Chipper's chirping to the press, and whether anyone wants to admit it or not the situation is affecting the clubhouse.
3.) Get deep into discussions about what it's going to take to get one of Haniger or Mancini, and I mean yesterday. Waters isn't going to help this season, and I don't care what Pache has done to re-tool his swing. Whoever the CF is on whatever day is going to be your #8 hitter for the rest of 2021 (unless Acuna slides back over), so quit trying to change that situation and deal with it.
The OF situation and mix has to remain fluid - I don't want to move Acuna back to CF anymore than anyone else does, but if you can reasonably add Frazier and one of Haniger or Mancini he simply has to move back there for the rest of the season because the only places you're going to improve the offense - for any reasonable price - is in the OF corners. I wouldn't fool around and waste time chasing SP upgrades - Smyly hasn't been what they'd hoped for, but between him, Wilson, Davidson, Wright, De La Cruz, and Muller they're going to be fine and you hope for an Ynoa return sometime after the break.

The Restricted list is a compendium of players who are out of organized baseball but are not free agents. A team can request that a player be placed on the restricted list if that player has left the team without a valid reason, or has announced his intention to retire but is still of an age or level of skill that could allow him to return to professional baseball in the future. I do think we lead MLB in quality starts over the past month, so the starting pitching at least hasn't been that bad. The bullpen is another question entirely, and Snitker's management of both starters (leaving them in too long) and relievers (putting them in the wrong situations) has undoubtedly made the pitching numbers worse.
I thought this thread was unrealistic at first, but we are 7 games out of the loss column behind a Mets team that is going to get Conforto, McNeil, Nimmo, Davis, Hunter, Carrasco, Betances, Jose Martinez, and potentially Syndegaard back this year. The fact that the gap has been widening despite them missing half of their lineup is...not a good sign. It shouldn't be a surprise if we are 12 games out in the loss column by July 1 as the Mets are getting healthier and we end up being sellers.
