Sexual Assault Watershed?

The amount of assault victims that are now opening up is just disturbing. I think the biggest positive is that more victims are finding the willingness to come forward. Hopefully the exposure will drastically reduce future instances.

I worry people are going to get carried away with this. Obvious Weinstein and Spacey did terrible **** but I would bet every single person has done something that would be considered sexual assault by the standards we use today. There are people out there who want to take this way overboard.

Yep. A friend of mine is currently getting **** from a girl for sexually harassing her. He was sending provocative texts to her while he was drunk... he's the problem, she was responding to them quite explicitly. Now she is claiming she was drunk and he was taking advantage of her.

Not talking sexual orientation stuff here but doesn't just about every character Spacey plays seem to have that basic "attitude" about them? Maybe that's why he's such a good actor, he really isn't acting at all.

You guys raise good points. But on a real basic level, does the growing exposure of this stuff nauseate you? Let me be the first to admit, I'm a sinner, deserving of my own merit nothing but wrath and displeasure. That said we really have much darkness from sea to shining sea. American exceptionalism? Exceptionally good at being depraved it seems.

It makes me stick to my stomach as well but that's where we're at as a nation right now. It also goes back to my theory that if the "supposedly good people" in charge actually did the right thing instead of turning a blind eye to bad stuff because they didn't want to be the "bad guy" and punish people when they needed to be punished things wouldn't have gotten this out of hand. Just my opinion though.

Also, while we certainly have done a lot of really good things over the years there isn't much question we have always been really good, or exceptional if you will, at being aholes. You can trace that back (at least) to that whole "all men are created equal" nonsense that we said but didn't believe for a second.

And truth be told, peel back the veneer from other nations and there's rot. For instance if what's said of Weinstein and Spacey is true, they would have been model Roman men.

Well, there is reason to believe the times, they are a'changin'.

:Bowman:

By the way, I swear I never touched anybody.

Hypersexualized culture leads to a hypersexualized society. 1 Corinthians 15:33, am I right?

They probably would have been good Caesars back in the day.

I recently learned that Julius and Augustus are the reasons the names of the months don't make sense. September was the 7th month, October the 8th, November the 9th, December the 10th. Then July (Julius) and August (Augustus) were crammed in the middle of the year and messed everything up.

Stupid article, full of ridiculous hyperbole.

"The rules are being redrawn with little idea of where the boundaries of this new sexual utopia will lie and less idea still of whether any sex will be allowed in the end."

A few will but I believe that for every guy wrongly accused another 50 on the other side get away with it.
