Hessmania Forever
The Mullet Toss is back !
When I first got a look at Greene after the Braves obtained him, I thought, "How does he have any energy left to work out after spending a whole day tuning up the Hemi?"

Probably a lot of monster energy drinks.
But seriously, don’t talk about the Hemi like that. She’s not exactly street legal
Can’t wait for him to perform like last year and ppl hate him.
He really played this wrong if he’s getting a 1.5 million one year deal
If he performs like last season, he's going to be a big help.

There must be something in the analytics that gave all of baseball pause, because his face-value stats look pretty good. 1.12 WHIP and didn't let any inherited runners score in 2020. Not overpowering, but decent control. One can argue that the Braves' budget constraints prevented signing him earlier, but seeing Melancon only got $2 MM (with an assured buyout of $1 MM for 2022 and the possibility of going back to the Padres at $5 MM next year), I suppose the demand wasn't there throughout the league. Hard to believe.
I can only guess he held out for closer or elite set up man money and he's not that.
I'm not sure how much the Braves were protecting him from trouble last season, but his overall expected numbers support 7th inning guy. He is right around a .300 xwoba guy and that's fine.
He probably pitched a little better in 2020 than in 2019, though that could be sample size.
Now Braves sign Tanner Roark to a minor league deal. Man that contract before 2020 the Jays gave him was horrible...

Meh. We've got $11M invested in Smyly; he's gonna keep getting chances until he's good and dead. Morton, Anderson, Fried, Ynoa... there's no room at the inn. And if/when you have spot starts, they should go to the guys you're trying to develop. So I don't see Roark as an answer to any question we're asking.
Greene was a nice signing. Strop might be worth a look, too. I guess Roark could fill a long role, but we have Tomlin.
Because when you’re trying to get to a World Series it’s usually not best to keep throwing developmental guys out there for spot starts when they continue to get shelled like all of our developmental guys
Yeah that Ynoa bum has got to go. Free Roark!
Greene has been the same reliable Bp arm since the moment he entered the league. Why he didn’t sign a similar deal earlier may never be known, but he is a clear upgrade to this BP.
Well done AA, even if it’s a bit later than we wanted.
If Soroka can ever get back on the field, and the Ender/Heredia platoon approximates an MLB player in CF, this team is the 90ish win club we all expected. At the deadline they can add to the BP, rotation, or OF as needed.
Paging Starling Marte...you're needed in Atlanta sir.
