NBC News: Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock researched Chicago and Boston locations. He even booked a hotel for Lolapalooza but did not show
A woman running for town council in South Windsor is withdrawing from the race following a controversial social media post about the Las Vegas shooting.
The horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas left many people upset and outraged. They took to social media to voice their opinions, including Ritu Goel.
“Prayers for Las Vegas. People who are in favor of guns should have been on that strip,” Ritu Goel wrote.
The one time Democratic candidate posted the comment on Facebook.
Wednesday, she released a statement after receiving backlash.
“For the safety of my family I am withdrawing my candidacy for town council. I will also step down from the South Windsor Alliance for Progress because I do not want to jeopardize their great work. I am afraid for the safety of my kids, my husband and my mom who is just visiting. I have lived here for 23 years, and that beautiful life has been threatened. My professional life is at stake. Last night I went to the police station accompanied by some fellow Democrats, to ask for police protection.
“We recently celebrated diversity in this town. But that is not what I have experienced in the last 24 hours. The calls I am getting not only insult me, but insult our diverse team running for Town Council. The signs for our non-white candidates have been taken off lawns. Another caller said one candidate is “an idiot.”
“Politics has become a blood sport in South Windsor. My one badly worded, emotional painful Facebook post was taken out of context and exploited by our political opponents on social media and news channels. An apology has not stopped the hate directed towards me and my family.
“I have never advocated violence against anyone, nor did my social media comment. What I expressed is complete frustration with the lack of sensible gun controls and my hope that those who support the NRA in believing that guns are more important than lives will see the Las Vegas tragedy and change their minds.
“Kathy Dougherty and the Republicans claim there is “no room for hate” in our town. I would urge her and her colleagues to start at home. Start by truly listening to one another instead of demonizing for the sake of political gain. Think about embracing the frustration everyone is feeling, and find bipartisan solutions to prevent more tragedies. We desperately need to change the culture of this town and our country.”

LAS VEGAS—Jesus Campos had no firearm when he found Stephen Paddock and approached his room on the 32rd floor of Mandalay Bay on Sunday night.
Paddock, who had rigged cameras in the hallway and on the peephole of the door, saw Campos coming and fired through the door, hitting him in the leg, said Dave Hickey, president of the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America. The union represents Campos and hundreds of security guards at Mandalay Bay.
When Campos was hit, he radioed casino dispatch and told them his location—and Paddock’s.
Police officers subsequently approached the room and were met with 200 rounds from Paddock, Lombardo said on Wednesday night. Police fell back until SWAT arrived.
Campos, wounded, stayed on the floor and even went door-to-door, clearing rooms with police, Lombardo said, until he was ordered to leave because he was wounded.
Not particularly... if your contention is that the founding fathers were anti-arms then please show your work.
My contention is that you--again-- posted fake quotes attributed to founding fathers which align with your worldview.
Based on that, I don't have to show my work. I could just post some fake quotes from founding fathers that align with my ideas about sensible gun control legislation.

Trump finds his voice in Vegas after stumbling in Puerto Rico
The President, who arrived at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada trauma center on Wednesday, was gracious and deferential. One nurse recalled how he greeted first responders by gripping them on both arms, leaning in with warmth to tell them how grateful he was.
He and first lady Melania Trump went room to room to talk to each of the 10 patients he visited and their families. He asked for their stories of how they survived as the hail of bullets rained down from the gunman. He wanted to know about their favorite country stars, whether they heard the gunshots, how they escaped the venue, whether they had arrived at the hospital in pickup trucks. He invited them to "drop by" the White House when they were in Washington, one doctor said.
"It was like talking to your next door neighbor," said Dr. John Fildes, who heads UMC's department of surgery and led the Trumps on their tour Wednesday.
The CEO of the hospital, Mason Van Houweling, noted that Trump comforted victims who had lost friends and family members. He met with more than 100 staff members, including an environmental technician who mopped "gallons of blood" from the emergency room floor in the midst of the madness.
"He was a real statesman today," said Van Houweling told CNN in an interview outside the emergency room, adding that the President "gave lots of hugs" and took selfies with anyone who asked. "He spent lots of time with (the victims). He was not rushed by any means."
"I heard a lot of laughing" from the rooms, he said, describing how the President joked with the patients and sought to lift their spirits.
"What I saw today is just an incredible tribute to professionalism, and what they have done is incredible. And you never want to see it again, that I can tell you," Trump said shortly before leaving the hospital.
He said the deaths of the 58 people who perished at the country music festival Sunday night should "inspire all of us to show more love every day for the people who grace our lives."
"In the months ahead, we will all have to wrestle with the horror of what has unfolded this week, but we will struggle through it together, we will endure the pain together, and we will overcome together as Americans," Trump said after recounting the stories of men and women who saved lives on Sunday.
Speaking with first responders, Trump urged Americas not to "be defined by the evil that threatens us or the violence that incites such terror."
"We are defined by our love, our caring and courage," Trump said. "In the darkest moments, what shines most brightly is the goodness that thrives in the hearts of our people. That goodness is our lighthouse, and our solace is knowledge that the souls of those who passed are now at peace in heaven."
Which are fake. I'll admit I just pulled from Reddit while drinking.
Sorry to trigger you
Haha, "triggered" is just the cheapest way to bail out. Be better.
A: [shows their ass]
B: [calls them on it]
A: "LoL triggered"
It's pretty tired.
The left has reached a new level of disgusting. Just like Goldy rooting for the people of Florida to get killed in the hurricane this is the new mindset on the left. They cause almost all the violence and somehow point the finger at Conservatives.
How long were these cameras installed and how did nobody notice this sooner? How did all the guns get into the room?
