Should Braves trade Floyd?

We can't possibly get fair value for either. Pretty sure neither can be traded for another month or two due to them being fa signings

Floyd could be traded but it would require his consent. If he was told there wasn't a rotation spot for him he would probably consent. I am not sure when the exact date is he could be traded without consent but its probably late June or early July.

First off everyone knows you will need one or maybe 2 more starting pitchers sometime this season. Hale should be sent down and kept as a game ready starter. As far as Floyd brings up a curious situation. Is he down there because of injury and has a limited number of starts that can be made before being brought up or can he remain in the minors. If he HAS to be brought up then you use him as long relief until someone in the rotation has an injury or starts stinking up the place. Teheran, Santana, Minor and Wood should remain there all season without question unless injured, they are all that good. As long as Harang pitches well he has earned his spot, Floyd has not.

This covers everything.

This is not an aimless thread, starting pitching is hard to come by and Floyd appears to be ready to contribute. We might get an offer of one (or even two) decent prospects. But can we count on 5 of the 6 remaining starters to be healthy and good? I say no, I'm not even 100% confident with Minor, let alone Hale and Harang.

Floyd won't be happy but he's getting 4 million a year to be told what to do.

Our decision should not be based on who will be unhappy and might throw a hissy fit. We should simply decide based on the best interests of the team.

Ideally, but the Braves are also demonstrably cognizant of their reputation as an organization. It's a delicate situation, and I have the feeling somebody is going to get sore about something no matter the unfolding of events.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about minor leagues and prospects.

Is it worth consideration to package Minor with Uggla and say $10M looking for a return package similar to what Detroit got for Fister? I realize Uggla is a huge detractor to any package.
Keep Floyd this year but Minor's arb award, Floyds departure and anything saved on Uggla might make holding on to Santana a possibility.

Like at 2B.

I was going to mention something about 2B. Yeah, there are certain players Fredi treats as if he is walking on eggshells when around them. Is he afraid they're going to take a swing at him?

It isn't as if Harang or Floyd going to the pen means they will never be called upon to start a game.

Same with Uggla. If Pastornicky or La Stella is given a chance to earn the starting second base job, it doesn't mean Uggla will never be given additional opportunities. Unless he gets released.
