SIAP: Tyrell Jenkins Promoted To Gwinnett

His K rate and BB have been putrid. 5.7 K/9 isnt good for the minors and 4.0 BB/9 is horrible. It's not a confidence booster. If it continues we better ship him off on his talent or ERA.

Putrid? How about you compare him to a Top 25 prospect who also just got promoted from the Southern League to AAA recently? How's the...

Mystery Prospect:

4-7, 78.1 IP, 3.68 ERA, 1.226 WHIP, 89/43 K/BB Ratio, 4.9 BB/9, 2.07 K/BB

If Jenkins is "horrible", the whole world has missed the boat on Robert Stephenson.

The BB rate isn't horrible, zito was wrong on that. The K rate is definitely subpar, though, and needs to improve. Stephenson's K rate is great.

But today was great from Jenkins. If he can keep posting starts like that and increase his K rate, he'll be on his way.

I just find it hard to believe that anyone who watched him in ST could not think his stuff will play in the big leagues. Frankly, I'm shocked that he doesn't have higher K rates in the minors because his stuff is top notch.
the good thing is that the Braves know his stuff is good. It was raved about all spring. I've said it before, I think he's more of a stay candidate than Folty.

Those numbers are a bit better than 5.7/4.0 k to bb ratio so far.

But a perfect example of missed development time. As someone mentioned earlier, Jenkins was striking out right a batter per inning before he went down, and is just now getting close to getting his stuff back. As several others mentioned as well, you could see it was there during his spring training outings.

I understand it's tough to grasp for some, but like Hart loves to say..."this is what they look like" - regardless of what a spreadsheet reflects when the brass has given him specific areas to work on that don't necessarily lead to high K rates.
