Simmons dealt to Angels for two top pitchers, Aybar

I can't help but laugh at this point. It's like we wanna suck. Anybody know what the 2017 draft class looks like? Cause we'll have a super high pick. I don't even care what they do with the extra money at this point bc it won't matter any.

Google.com and to be fair, did you think we'd be good in 2016/2017 draft?

We likely wouldnt even with Simmons, not defending the trade by any means but we'd have a high pick next year regardless.

This trade is beyond terrible and defies any chance of defending it. Shocking that this front office is this unbelievably stupid to make such a pathetic trade.

No other grade for this one except F------------

Unless Newcomb becomes an ace, I don't really care. We have a **** ton of arms. We have traded 4 high value position players, Gattis, Justin, Jason, and Simmons and have gotten back few positional prospects. Only Mallex Smith and Rio Ruiz were pretty much all we got back both have issues and only Rio has a high ceiling.

Now we get back 0 position prospects or young position players for Simmons. It's juts terrible

I agree, even if he becomes an ace, it doesnt matter because sans Freddie, no position players worth a ****.

And yes, the team has plenty of freaking pitching, how many arms does a team need.

Gotta score runs to win.

Aybar is a switch-hitter, was a 2014 all-star, a 2011 Gold Glover and he doesn't suffer stupid nagging injuries caused by bad baserunning and poor sliding technique. As good a time to trade Simmons as any.

(Aybar played in at least 137 games every year since 2009).

Oops - yes I read the Briceno thing wrong. Oh well -- as I said before, I disliked the trade before, dislike it now. Briceno doesn't change the needle at all. I just don't like continuing to gamble on young arms (very volatile) instead of some high upside young bats. Just ludicrous. I'm really disenchanted with the FO.

why on earth would you trade simmons for this package? the ONLY reason you deal simmons is if you get someone to overpay, otherwise there is absolutely no reason for this. How many damn pitching prospects do we need? i've been a braves fan for over 30yrs.. this is the most disappointed and confused i've ever been at them.. at this point, Freeman, Olivera, Markakis, Teheran, Miller should all be put out there too. Oh, and if they dont turn around and flip Aybar to another team that was in on Simmons, they are dumber than i think.. Its a great idea to trade our best young players but its blasphemy to even think about firing Fredi Gonzalez?... i dont get it..

At this point you have to trade Miller and Teheran. Miller will be a free agent before we are even on the brink of being competitive again....

Hell after a 5-17 year with a 3 ERA we would be putting him out of his misery

Then you trade Freeman

We are going to have a team of pitchers who throw nothing but no hitters

Might as well trade Julio and Miller. Especially Miller bc no way in hell he signs an extension here. Poor Freeman.

Newcomb as a centerpiece is great. That dude is a future ace and could be up this year. My problem is yet again not getting an offensive piece back for the future. you would think the overall package would be better to make this deal on November 12th though. But again, Newcomb is an absolute stud.

Overall this is a good deal and would be happy with it if this was later in the offseason. Just thought the secondary pieces would be better this early.
