Snit Watch

Nothing but appreciation for Snit today and all he's given to the organization. A class act. It seems like yesterday I was a kid watching him manage games in Macon. I really hope the organization takes the opportunity to branch out a find a fresh voice and perspective.

It was time. Along with Crimson, I predicted this would be his last year before the season started. I'm sure everyone was hoping this announcement would come after a mid-October parade, but that wasn't in the cards.

Given the injuries this year, I don't see how they could have made the playoffs and I'm not going to put all the blame on Snitker for the responses to those injuries. Any team giving the likes of Davis Daniel, Carlos Carrasco, and Cal Quantrill multiple starts isn't thinking clearly.

Curious to see what direction they take. I have to wonder if a full housecleaning of the current staff is in the offing.

PS--I had (or maybe still have somewhere in all my junk) a Brian Snitker baseball card from when he played for the Savannah Braves. It must be worth at least 50 cents.

I will say, it seems AA probably made this decision a while back, which is yet another sign of concern for me with him. One would have thought they could have announced this at least a month or 2 ago and let Snit have his swan song and a nice final day send off at the end of the season with a pre game ceremony and all the works with his family in attendance. Certainly this is something they would never to have allowed to happen with Cox.

It's a troubling pattern with AA, with this and the handling of the Kimbrel situation, and also the Culberson treatment. I'm sure there are probably other examples, but they escape me at the moment.

Let's hope...

When leach died at state, we hired from within for continuity. It failed.

When Payton retired, the saints hired Allen for continuity. It failed.

I fully expect the hat trick among my teams...

Probably didn't want upheaval in the clubhouse if they forced Snit to announce it mid season.

I dont think they'll promote from within. AA probably has full authority to make the manager decision, and it'll be his.

Add to that the fact that Jesse Chavez spent more than one day collecting a major league baseball players' paycheck in 2025. I know Anthopoulos walks on water for some, but he's got his foibles like everyone else.
