Snit Watch

Snitker's getting a place in the Braves Hall of Fame, a senior advisor job that I imagine won't demand very much of him and a freaking trip to Hawaii. I'm a sentimental guy and I would be upset if the Braves had disrespected Snitker, but they didn't. They're doing right by him.
 
Snitker has never been a lame duck manager, and he was this year. That should tell you all you need to know.

He was not going to manage in 2026, no matter how it ended up being spun. And it doesn't matter. This was the correct move, which does matter.
 
I’m sorry but Snit made it clear in that press conference he wasn’t sure all year if he had it in him to do another year. If he’s having those thoughts, then it’s time to move on.

I assumed Drew was out of the league the last few years but to my surprise he logged 250 plate appearances with Kansas City this year.

both of the above can be true while AA knows snitker has to go and snitker isn't sure he's ready to retire. in that case if you're AA you send as many signals as you can without coming out and saying it, and hope snit decides to retire on his own, which seems to be what happened.

This is basically my take. I don't think AA did anything nefarious or underhanded. But I do think AA wanted Snit to make this decision for AA so he could avoid the blowback of moving on from a manager that has been with the org for 49 years and was someone the players genuinely liked (except probably Acuna).

My point was that I think AA set this in motion month ago. Again, Snit was on an expiring contract and they never approached him about extending it and AA's public comments did not exactly provide resounding support for him returning in 2026 as manager. I think Snit could see the writing on the wall there.

It’s also possible Anthopoulos was regularly communicating with Snitker, knew his state of mind, and “did not exactly provide resounding support for him returning in 2026 as manager” because he was so well-aware that Snitker was very much on-the-fence, thereby giving Snitker space and cover to make his own decision on his own terms.
 
Shanks makes McGuirk the fall guy for everything. It’s interesting how he thinks he’s the guy behind the “ouster” of Snit while most of us think AA would have already nudged him out if not for McGuirk.

they lost in 7 before they were really all that good, and ran into two historically good champs in Toronto and the Yankees. After that they weren't really in running for best team any more but still won a lot.
