Snit's Changes

Expects Yuge Games
Last night we saw:

1) Inciarte in center and Smith in left.

2) Flowers catching with a righty going for the other team.

Indications perhaps that the manager (whether Fredi or Snit) has been making certain calls about who players where and how often.

Possibly... I would guess there is some conversation and give and take about lineups. FG probably had his ideas, some of which were supported by the FO, and some that put them at odds. I am guessing that Snit has a better relationship, at least initially, and they probably give him a little more leeway, but they are probably not shy about a few things they want done... like Aybar playing every day, and Neck in RF.

I was happy to see Inciarte playing cf, he is the superior defender out there. Flowers, I feel bad for the pitchers who still have to throw to AJ.

I just hate our young pitchers who have to throw to a horrible catcher like ajp. But also know that no arm neck is in right. The worst baseball player is at short and most likely a AAAA guy will be manning second. It is bad enough knowing that you can't give up a run because the offense stinks. But you literally have to strike everyone out just so you don't have to take a chance with our defense.

no I agree, 6 guys threw 1/3rd of an inning, that's over the top excessive, it's not the world series

My hope is that Snit looks back and says... That's a mistake I will try not to make again. He gambled that they would be able to scratch out a run late, and he lost big time. He may take that bet again in the future, but I'll bet he learned from the experience.

I think he gambled that they could hold the lead. I think he was trying to hard to get that home win.

His gamble was like farting in an elevator and the boss got on right before the doors closed.

There was an article earlier in the year to the effect that the FO instructed Fredi to manage every game as if it were game 7 of the WS. My guess is there is still pressure on the manager to be aggressive in seeking out matchups in any close game.

The other thing to note is the Snitker has been noncommittal the whole time about who his starting pitcher on Saturday might be. He probably managed with the idea that Kelly would be his "sacrifical lamb" if it turned into a long extra inning game. The only unfortunate aspect was having Kelly throw a side session earlier in the day. It seems to me that it would be a better practice to have someone in his position wait until the game was over before throwing that side session.

Snit or get off the pot, I say.

good, just another version of the old 'Braves Way'.. personally done with that crap.

I don't know how wise it is to feel that way. The Braves Way is absolutely the way to go. To me when you say Braves way, you mean pitching first and putting together a staff where you don't have a chance to win 3 of 5, your are going to win 3 of 5. Julio and Matt seem to be the 1-2 we have been waiting on. Need to find 3-4 and bang you have World Series contenders on your hands. Is number 3 Blair? Is it Folty? Who knows but we are getting closer by the day. Sure the offense needs fixed but Smith and Inciarte are here, Albies and Dansby coming. Things aren't that bad. I do think think they will bring in a manager from outside so it will be an easy fire when Chipper is ready.
