Was starting to throw this in the Tuesday thread, but figured I could just make a new post and not clog that one up.
Just some things that have caught my eye recently with our minors.
1. June hasn't been kind to some of our best hitters
Austin Riley
.206/.289./294, 1 HR, 11 SO, 3 BB
TD
.234/.308/.468, 3 HR, 18 SO, 5 BB
Acuna
.157/.218/.235, 1 HR, 17 SO, 3 BB
Ventura
.239/.271/.304. 1 2B, 1 3B, 9 SO, 1 BB
Yenci Pena
.227/.261/.364, 5 SO, 1 BB
Yunior Severino
.100/.217/.250, 1 2B, 1 3B, 6 SO, 3 BB
Riley is usually streaky, TD's SOs are up, Acuna is as cold now as he was hot when he first got to AA and a the highly thought of duo of Pena/Severino are scuffiling out of the gate.
2. One guy that's not scuffling..... .
A+ numbers - .321/.389/.367, 5 2B, 4 SB, 124 wRC+
Anfernee Seymour is enjoying his best year as a professional hitter, the LD% is the best of his career and he's been pretty consistent the entire season. 80 grade speed is a carrying tool and he still has work to do before he can be considered a Juan Pierre type player, strikeouts need to come down some.... .but he's improved his stock.
3. Speaking of SSS DSL scouting
Juan Carlos Negret OF, 17 years old, so the right age to get excited about in the DSL
38 AB, .342/.457/.579, 6 2B, 1 HR, 10 SO, 6 BB, 4 SB, 2 CS
Tied 1st - DSL Total Bases
I know nothing about this kid.
4. How about Corbin Clouse?
We all remember Clouse from last year as a strikeout machine coming out of the pen, but his April was ghastly, 9.72 ERA, way too many walks. But he's been killing it since then.
He hasn't given up an ER in his last 17 innings, he has nine Ks in his last 5.2 IP.
5. WHERE IS AJAX??
6. Drew Harrington's recent struggles
Through his first 7 starts Harrington was at 7.28 K/9 and 1.17 BB/9; in his last five the numbers are 6.56 K/9 and 4.24 BB/9.
