Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Presumably neither is any individual firefighter though. I happen to agree that promo was terrible and that it should not be a badge of courage to not be able to do some aspect of a job. But there’s a lot of selective ignorance at play here with the discourse around LA firefighters, beginning with the obvious point of it not ****ing mattering who is fighting these fires right now given the other circumstances.

One area I don’t see explored enough by opponents of DEI is why there’s such a push for it in certain situations. Do people think the reason so many dangerous, difficult or low-wage jobs have big public pushes for diversity is because they just want to lift people of other backgrounds up, or because recruitment is down? I think it’s always worth first asking if this is a job you yourself would want to do for the prevailing wage before asking if a DEI initiative is anything more than a way to reframe a ****ty or dangerous job as something more than that.

It’s not an expectation that regular citizens would ever need to carry unconscious people around. It’s a core understanding that firefighters as first responders would be expected to rush into burning buildings and save people.

Sassy ads from the leadership of the fire department of the second biggest city in the US joking that men who pass out from fire smoke are to blame for their situation is inexcusable. Women can and should be firefighters if they can do the job. We shouldn’t accept lowered requirements so city leadership can congratulate themselves for having a higher percentage of women.

get crime and homelessness under control?

nah, let's build a 50 foot nude statue to revive the city!!

when will enough be enough for these citizens?

Agreed on that front. I just happen to believe that given how few accounts we’ve seen of people dying in fires because there wasn’t a man around to carry them that this might be more of an optics thing than a genuine public safety issue. I also suspect either the standards were going to need to be lowered or the wages of firefighters were going to have to increase, and LA figured it’d be cheaper in the long run to just lower standards and pretend it was to improve gender equality.

taken with as much charity as possible... how is this acceptable? in what world did someone cut, edit, and produce that video and it got approved? that's the issue. there is a sickness leftist government that has lost their grip on reality. that they made that video as a promotion!

Not defending the content in the video or the person saying it, although from the graphic it appears to have been a promo for the Fox television show 9-1-1, so I’d imagine the video production side was approved because they succeeded in finding a controversial quote to promote their television show. If so, that’s just smart production work, because that show’s logo is all over the internet several years later.

Now, I wouldn't want to impose Norwegian or San Franciscan sensibilities on say Arkansas or Oklahoma. But surely even the most prudish of Libertarians would defer to community standards and adopt a live and let live attitude.

So with the heavy increase in environmental meddling we have gotten worse outcomes?

Shocker

…We have very famously not done the things climate scientists are calling for. Whether you believe in the science or not, you cannot meaningfully tell me you’re ignorant to the fact that we haven’t reduced carbon emissions anywhere near the rate which scientists have claimed we need to. Believe whatever you want about why there are so many more extreme forest fires and trees being lost globally, but don’t pretend society just successfully implemented what “climate alarmists” were asking for and it failed.

I would say public spending on the arts is a good use of resources. But I wouldn't force my views on say Oklahomans or Arkansans. If they want to spend their tax dollars on erecting other kinds of structures who am I to judge.

A lot of the environmental movements have been ignorant of common sense maintenance practices

See: cleaning out underbrush and forest floors, holding water sources in spite
Of the smelt etc

Once again, I don’t think the answer is to assume California had everything right. Some of the arguments about California’s management of all this being spread on social media are false, baseless or irrelevant, but not all. Clearly more needs to be done to protect California from wildfires. But it’s also true that the world is getting hotter, which isn’t good for dry, hot places with a lot of vegetation and no amount of extra white penises or extra water tanks will adequately address this fact.

Climate change!

Not only did leftist idiotic ideology exasperate the issue once the fire started but its most likely their policies that led to the fire in the first place.

It’s truly an evil ideology and the people afflicted with the woke mind virus will never realize.

It’s likely based on other confirmed reports that these were Probabaly illegals acting as demolition teams for their country/cartel.

The script has been flipped.

Soon we will be able to throw parents in jail for allowing their kids to be castrated.
