but I don't discount the possibility of a Trump effect...it seems implausible to me...but if his supporters wish to give him credit who am i to tell them they are wrong
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch today announced that 2024 concluded with a nearly 3% reduction in overall index crime, which equates to 3,662 fewer incidents and thousands of fewer victims of violence and disorder across the five boroughs. The index crime categories of murder, robbery, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny—auto each saw sizable reductions across New York City in 2024, led, in part, by hefty drops during the month of December in five of the seven major crime categories. Overall index crime in December, compared to the same month in 2023, decreased by 15.5%, the largest one-month decrease since February 2021.

although i understand why considerations of taste might preclude you from recycling old videos of flooding in NY
how about some fires in California? surely there is nothing wrong with recycling a couple of those

Republicans gutted emergency services, then dragged their feet when Texas was flooding. Rep. Casar and I are demanding answers from FEMA, NOAA, and the Commerce Department’s Inspector General about the delays, the cuts, & why help didn’t come sooner. Texans deserve answers & real accountability.

I took Monday off work to load supplies at the local HEB for flood rescue efforts and took an additional 2 hour shift on Tuesday to dot the same. This was coming off my LA trip that I took other time off.
This isn't a "pat myself on the back" but more of a fuck you to say I'm sitting on my ass about this tragedy 40 miles away from my home
