Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Have you ever heard of a hallway carousel? My middle schooler was introduced to it this year. Since too many of the kids are now too violent too often, all of the kids have to exit their classroom and turn right. If your next class is one door to the left, you have to turn right. Go to the end of the hall on the right side. Go the length of the hall to the other end, and come back. She’s late for the same class almost daily because of this “solution” to problem kids creating problems. It’s absurd that we live like this and restrict everyone so much for the worst 10% or so of the population.

All of society is a hostage to the bottom 10%. All of our laws, our money, our decision making, is based on how to have the least bad outcome of the bottom 10%

I spent a lot of time on UNC’s campus while my wife was attending. I listened to some football players explain to me how they had been learning about rap and hip hop, and that hip hop was a culture and rap was its soundtrack. Apparently it’s very offensive to call any music hip hop. One of them was taking a class on the music of Tupac, but he had a lot of trouble in the class because reading wasn’t his strong suit and some of Tupac’s lyrics had 3 or 4 syllables. My wife was in an art class where the professor took them on a field trip to an abandoned building to scavenge art supplies. He proudly displayed his favorite student project from the field trip out in the hallway outside his class: a set of nunchucks made from a two headed dildo. She was briefly in a Women’s Studies class as an elective. She dropped it after a few days because the very masculine female teacher made her interest quite clear.

If that’s even a top 40 school then they all should have been burnt to the ground decades ago. Seeing a member of academia produce a list that has that school in the top 4 should be enlightening, but it’s not really a surprise.

That's why they are at #4. Cal has a much better Tupac Shakur program, and their dike professors are much bigger and more aggressive.
