Sure. The overall murder rate is a pretty good indicator of how safe a place is from violent crime. Kin on kin crime is also an indicator of the kind of deeply dysfunctional cultures that continue to hold back many red areas. But hey if y'all want to discount those kinds of crimes by all means be my guest.
