We cook with gas , have for years except a brief period where we bought a house that had electric in place.
We heat with gas have for years.
However, I see the point in phasing out gas appliances.
Which is what this is rather than a classic "ban" where the item is taken
away and made unavailable
Outside of obvious ecological concerns first and foremost in my
mind is fire.
I dont have the numbers, but take a cursory glance at everyday fire department reports to
see cause. 6 of 10 I'd conservatively estimate are gas related
Of course the single dwelling dangers but what about scenarios where
one lives in multi family dwellings ? Be they apartments, du plex condominium etc
of course there are fire regulations concerning construction,
Back when - I asbestosed many a fire wall and chimney, double rocked partitioned with fire "proof"
sheet rock. Which works to a degree
As far as labeling it a ban, we have received no notice that gas deliveries
would be curtailed.
Or notice we had 30-60 days to turn in our gas appliances.
Or had the gas police come in and take our stuff
Nothing more than public safety
I'm curious how many of those outraged actually use gas !
Or is it merely outrage du jour
Progress my friends. Used to be ok/legal to ride in the back of a PU
smoke in restaurants, drive without seatbelts and shoot BB guns sans
warning " Caution carelessness could cause shooting one's eye out"
