Representative Paul Ryan, the new House speaker, said it would be "ridiculous" to try and work with President Barack Obama on immigration policy reform.

Remember when W was president and the Repubs were spending all over the place and the Dems called them on it as fiscally UNresponsible? And they were right to do so. Then the Dems took over and spent all over the place and the Repubs called them on it and they were right to do so. The only difference is some of what it gets spent on. At least that's how I see it. I know some see it otherwise.

By the way, do you really think if the Repubs take over their special interest spending, corporate welfare, etc., will stop or will they just call it by another name?

Combination??? None in recent memory, that was my point, it's whichever party that isn't in power that always tries to pretend it has a conscience. The second part was a legitimate question, what with Ryan as Speaker and some of the TEA baggers wanting to be pres next year. The Repubs always talk about cutting spending but I think we all know that IF they really do cut it, it'll be like the big cut in SNAP a couple of years ago where about 2/3 of what was cut was turned around and funneled back to Monsanto and a couple of other similar companies.
