Spencer Strider

Just being cautious isn’t a bad reason

I mean, I could be wrong, but it sounds like the brace procedure is slightly riskier than just getting the full TJS. Why wouldn’t you just get TJS if you weren’t going to be back any sooner anyway?

The success rate thus far (although this is still a very new procedure) is higher with the brace procedure... one study suggests up to a 92% success rate... the success rate for TJS is 80-90%

Here's a great blog post on the differences between the two... I don't think it's a riskier solution at all:

Maybe I'm wrong, but man I'd hope the BRaves FO and Strider could make the medical decisions better than us. Nothing I can do other than hope for competency.

With need a 15 man Pitching staff and many of the starts are asked to pitch in the 6th inning when they are running on fumes. They game has chance a lot in the last 5 years to to pitchers throwing harder every years. Most are only good for 4 in innings maybe 5 with a good lead

. Starting pitching is almost unwatchable. Bullpen depth is as strong as ever so have 5 starters 3 long men (2-3 inning pitchers and 7 or 8 1-2 man relievers many add 2 more so we can had 3rd catcher and a great late inning defender/ base stealer like Deion. I miss Great late inning basrunners like Deion. Plus he was a nice backup Centerfielder. So, 30 man roster Please. Pitchers are far more injuried prone as ever. 15 hitters and 15 pitchers. If I was in Chard that’s what I would prepose

Just bad luck but a good sign that it wasnt from throwing but the bone fragment rubbing back and fourth on the ligament.

Thats honestly really good news at this point. Sounds like they just did the brace as a precaution for future injury and not because he need TJ surgery. The brace seems like it is going to be the real popular thing going forward. With the recovery time I kind of would like to get it on pitchers before they even need the first TJ. If recovery times on it lets just shut down some prospects in July and get it for them. Then they should be ready to go by the start of the next season.

Anything can happen of course. But it's probablly the best possible news he will still be good when he comes back and hopefully it allows him to be healthy through the rest of his contract.

Yeah I think he should be safe from TJ for at least the duration of his contract. He will probably still need a second TJ surgery but 10 years between TJ surgeries is much better than 5 years.
