Spencer Strider

You would think there would be a way to better track the condition of pitchers arms, elbows and shoulders to preemptively shut them down before their condition deteriorates to the point they need surgery. It seems like it would be in everybody’s best interest

Knowing AA, if Strider becomes an ineffective starter upon return from TJ 2.0, he can be our closer as Iglesias will be gone by then.

Strider can still be a good starter converted to closer Ala Smoltz, and he'll be paid below market value as an elite closer.

Saw a comment on Twitter wondering about the pitch clock being related to the Tommy John stuff.

Not sure if there has been an increase or just bigger names it's happening to

Wonder if players would go along with regular MRIs.

Are arm injuries distributed equally among starters and relievers? If it's mostly starters, maybe pitching rosters should be expanded to prevent so many innings on starters

I think the pitch clock is a red herring. TJ’s are up across every level of professional and amateur baseball. It’s almost as if this shouldn’t be referred to as an injury rather required maintenance like replacing the tires on your car after 50k miles.

Do pitchers get routine MRIs in the off-season? Seems like that should be a standard procedure for a high-risk guy like Strider. If you assume that his off-season work, spring training and 2 starts didn‘t cause an injury that wasn‘t already there after last season, he could be 6 months into his recovery by now. And the offseason could have been planned accordingly.

Bout to get in my lab to manufacture a super ligament, tendon, ucl. I'm gonna be so rich

I can’t see players ever agreeing to regular MRIs with the amount of money they could stand to lose.

Why? It‘s not like not looking at a problem makes it go away. Getting something done after last season could have-in the worst case scenario-at least saved Strider’s 2025 season.

The bottomline for kids and their coaches are going to have to get rid of this throwing harder than God intended mentality. Do you want to pitch for 10-15 years or flame out at three or four years or so? The game will balance itself back out.

You guys know how I feel about twit and he was probably napping and didn’t even realize who was pitching when strider was pulled. But even I have a hard time gettin mad at him or this. I always feel that non contact injuries are just inevitable.
