Spring Training 2015

EY Jr. didn't look good in CFer on that last fly ball, he broke back, froze, and misplayed it into a bloop hit.

Miami scores with two outs on a pop up that blooped in, Man-Ban made a good pitch and the runner that scored reached base due to EY Jr. misplay in CF to start the inning.

KJ is in RF and doesn't look good out there so far. Braves defense looks weak in the outfield today with Gomes-EY-KJ out there.
 
BTW, none of the three hits against Man-Ban so far today are hits if Simmons is at short or with good defense in the outfield (one hit soft fly ball to center, other was literally a pop up to RF that fell in).

Fredi wants to see what they've got and possibly if there might be something there. Tomorrow's lineup is suppose to be with Freeman in CF, Simmons at catcher, and Bethancourt at 2nd.

Now that would be interesting, Simmons might actually do a good job anywhere you put him. He certainly has the arm to catch. Freeman in CF would be a comedy but at least he could show his arm off after he ran down the ball. Then again by that time the runner may already have an inside the park homerun. Also, Bethancourt might be as good as Uggla at second. :)
 
Wow, some bad defense all around in this game. DP ball hit by Gomes with bases loaded gets by short and then is misplayed in centerfield too. It was ruled a hit but that was just terrible defense. Now a balk scores another run. Braves lead 3-1 thanks to all the nice gifts from Miami.
 
Martin is getting some help on defense unlike Man-Ban and Koehler did earlier, this time a line out by Prado caught at second for a DP on a hit-and-run after Buck had thrown out a runner earlier in the inning. Braves lead 4-1 top of the 5th inning now.
 
EY Jr. having a really bad day in CF today. I guess they'll rule that a double but another misplay in CF by EY Jr.

Outman was just charged with two runs but it's because of terrible defense in the outfield.
 
Starting to get the feeling Martin could go the whole spring without giving up a run and Fredi will still give the job to Wandy (Stults getting the other).

My comments: I guess it makes sense to blame the pitcher when EY cannot catch the ball in CF and Gomes shows no range in LF. :)

Fredi: Why does it matter, all he has to do is make a little catch here and a catch there? It's not like he is the pitcher or catcher. You throw the ball and if they hit it you got 8 others than can make the play. Make a pitch here, make a pitch there, and before you know it game over. It's like scoring runs, you don't have to score everytime, because if you did you'd never get a chance to pitch and play defense.

Given what we've seen from the pen candidates the past 2 days, I'm warming up to that idea of putting Banuelos in the pen to start the year

My comments: So now Bowman is trashing Outman and talking about warming up to the idea to Man-Ban in the bullpen. Wow, what an idiot Bowman is and what total nonsense he spins. He fails to mention that the "double" he blames on Outman was actually a ball that his boy EY Jr. in CFer should've caught! No mention about Gomes showing no range later in the inning either. If we hear this crap during the regular season blaming our pitchers for runs due to poor defense, then there's no way losing this year is going to be "more fun" IMO.

To sum it up, don't piss down my back Bowman and tell me it's raining!
 
Peterson with another hit, that's good. Hopefully he can go into the season on a good hitting streak and stay hot.

Joey T with another double makes it 6-3 Braves.

KJ having his best day of ST improving his chances to make the team. He's 2-2 with 2 walks. Callaspo had a good day too, both at the plate and in the field (some rare good defense from him at second).

No doubt that's how the Braves media will spin it. IMO it will be to diminish what Heyward did here defensively. It's just the Braves pitchers sucking. We don't miss Heyward at all.
