Spring Training 2015

Almonte just showed Young he can play play bad defense too. He misses a bloop to RF and both runs score. Lovely defense boys!

Bright side, at least they caught the balls when Wandy was dominating and didn't cost him his no hitter. If they had not Bowman would be blaming Wandy right now, lol.

Jace just had a tough take on 3-1 called strike 2, then struck out. Tough luck.

Plus both calls were to opposite sides of the plate, you cannot give the pitcher both calls IMO. If you're going to call a bit off the plate outside a strike there, then that one inside close shouldn't be called a strike.

Q: How many outfielders do the Braves have in camp?

A: Not nearly enough.

Ha, that sounds about right Rico.

Hart and Coppy have had some hits and misses so far on the small, short term moves. Gotta give them props on Wandy though. Keep him or trade him, he's turned into a pot of gold at this point.

While NRI being traded with early opt-outs seem almost unheard of, the way he dominated the Marlins tonight I could see some teams calling on him with all the injuries this ST. But I still doubt the return would be enough to make such a trade.

Miami just hit another fly ball, this time to Perez in center. Thankfully he caught the ball, it would be embarrassing if all three blew a fly ball in the same game. :)

Eury Perez looks like he could be a better hitter if he'd just cut down on the swinging for the fences. He is a speedy player that sometimes forgets and tries to be a power hitter. He did that again tonight his final AB this inning.

That said, I still like him better than EY Jr. both defensively and offensively in CF. Though EY Jr. is very good defensively in LF despite dropping a ball tonight.

It sounds like Dan Uggla is going to make the Nats, MLBTR:

MLB.com’s Bill Ladson reports, manager Matt Williams sees a legitimate possibility of Uggla impacting the club this year. “We haven’t defined any roles,” said Williams. “What we do know at this point is that he is seeing the ball well and he is playing well. I like his at-bats. … We haven’t defined those roles yet because we just don’t know.”

Uggla has a .929 OPS so far this Spring Training with the Nats.

Wandy is a trip, this is from his interview tonight after 5 no hit innings vs Miami:

“I used a lot of my two-seamer tonight, and I had a good one,” said Rodriguez, who struck out Marlins slugger Giancarolo Stanton both times he faced him. “I worked really good (against) him, I go in-out, in-out… I threw close to him; I know he’s maybe a little scared because he got hit (in the face by a pitch late in the 2014 season). I don’t want to hit him, but I try to work him in, go in and out with him.”

Tommy La Stella played third base today for the Cubs, anyone see how he looked at third? Just wondering. He went 2-4 and scored two runs batting lead-off, Tommy is hitting .321 so far this ST.
