Spring Training 2015

Everyone seems to be on board with the rebuilding, team chemistry seems to be there. I'm looking forward to seeing where we are in a couple of years.

It's easy to be having fun and loose when there are zero expectations to win.

I'd rather have a boring winning team than a fun losing team

Viz velocity looks good again but he is still struggling with his location and overall command. He might not make the team at this rate since he does have one minor league option left.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy this. Nobody likes to lose. Most of all the players on the field. I don't see how losing ball clubs (even ones expected to lose) find having fun to be "easier."

I don't the Braves had any chemistry issues before last season. I think losing our 2 longest tenured and most vocal clubhouse leaders (Mac and Huddy) hurt much more than people would like to think.

Cody Martin pitches a clean frame to continue his great Spring. With him only throwing one IP, I'm confused as to what the plan is with him. They had been stretching him out to presumably start in MLB or AAA . . . and now this.

James Hoyt who was traded to Houston in the Gattis trade continues to impress, he got the save today against the Mets for Houston striking out two in the 9th. He struck out 4 in 1.1 innings his previous outing, he hasn't given up a run yet this ST.

It seems they're now considering him for the bullpen. He was considered a long-shot for the rotation regardless. So if he is to make the team it might have to be in a bullpen role.

#Braves Minor (shoulder) began throwing again today, light stuff, 2 sets of 15 throws from 60 feet. Basically starting ST over again for him

One of his major strengths is stamina. Would be a shame to toss him in the pen, though if that's the only way he makes the team, I'll take it.

I've actually been impressed with Folty this spring. I think he's going to be a good one. He's got great pitching mechanics and seems to have a nice confident presence on the mound. He just clearly needs to work on his command/control and the change up. I think he's awfully close. And I do think he could handle being up in the bigs and getting knocked around a bit.

If you're serious, then what you see and what I see are quite different concerning Folty. However, I agree that he has issues with command/control and no consistency with his off-speed pitches. I'd also add that his big fastball is very straight, esp. when thrown in the high 90's. It seems he's overthrowing it for that high velocity and therefore cannot command/control it. In fact, Folty has even made statements with regard to feeling more under control throwing more mid-90's in the past. Further, I also don't see the "nice confident presence on the mound" that you see. I see a kid getting frustrated and trying to speed things up out there, which to his credit he admits to being an issue.

Source: 6 teams have called with interest in Jhoulys Chacin, who was released by #Rockies. Expect him to sign in near future.

My comments: I'd like to see the Braves sign him, if he does well we could either extend or trade him later at the deadline. I'd offer him a one year deal with a team option (if he'd go for a team option that would save having to extend or trade him at the deadline).

Not sure why someone that athletic would be satisfied with such an out of control swing.

I've only been able to watch a few at bats this year, but his balance seems way better than last year. I don't consider his swing "out of control" except when he overswings and loses balance. Maybe it's been worse than I have seen. Nobody is naive enough to think he will hit .400, but is it really unreasonable to hope for .275 with 50 walks?

If any of y'all like knuckleball pitchers, the Braves recently signed Dustin Bare who is a knuckleball pitcher from North Carolina that counts Phil Niekro as his mentor.
