Bowman cannot help himself concerning Wandy. He's making a big deal of Wandy's line today and saying that we saw the real Wandy today, lol. He cannot be fair at all concerning Wandy. No mention about the conditions pitching wise today, etc.

Bowman is clueless. I'm fine with giving Wandy the ball every 5 days for a month hoping we found another Harang (at half the size!)

Yep. When Wandy pitched 5 no hit innings his previous outing we heard nothing from Bowman about it on twitter. He only comments on Wandy when he can find something to take a shot at him. Well, outside of spinning a trade rumor about him two starts ago (and that was during the game as if he was taking calls for the Braves on him).

The Braves have two openings with Minor out. And the only younger option that looks ready enough to give a shot is Martin, but if he makes the team as 5th starter it should be over Stults.
Wandy is a better pitcher than Stults.

I know this is the groupthink position, but the man can hit. Last year was the aberration. He got big. Didn't work. He gets back to hitting gap-to-gap with a modicum of patience, he's a nice hitter. I'll take him as a complementary piece.

Its about accumulating assets this year for the Braves. If you can flip Wandy for a potential 7th inning man down the road who is controllable for 6 years then you do it.

Chris Johnson is terrible. There's a reason we couldn't trade him to anyone
Remember teams could have had him for free in the off season. So unless he surpasses what they expect of him, you aren't getting much in return, if anything.
Im not sure why someone would continue to believe this.

Chris Johnson could bounce-back and we'll still likely have to give him away in a trade due to his defense alone. Not every team has someone like Simmons to be able to deal with a CJ at third.
Agreed. But isn't that the point of pitching him? To see if he can surpass what the league thought of him?
Its HIGHLY unlikely but if he pitches well for the first month or two then the Braves can get a long term asset for him.

In a rotation with two open slots, I think giving Wandy one of them is fine. I've been an annoyingly persistent champion of letting the young guys take their lumps, but it's a little different with starting pitchers. Foltynewicz clearly has significant command issues. It's one thing to let a young hitter go up there day in and day out and take his 0-4s- those don't really affect anyone else. But if Foltynewicz walks five in 1 2/3 and gives up six runs, the rest of the staff has to cover for him. There's value to Wandy going out there and giving up 5 IP/3ER instead of the disaster option.
Now, I want nothing to do with Stults, and there's really no excuse not to give Cody Martin a rotation spot. I'll be pretty irked if we go with Stults instead.

I'm still in favor of signing Chacin since we missed out on Olivera. If we don't Liberty will probably end up pocketing the extra money left over, not that Chacin should cost all that much. Chacin could be a good trade chip down the road if he gets back on track. I'd try to get him on a one year deal with a team option.

Sounds like Martin is getting the Hale treatment already to me, he pitched one inning out of the bullpen recently.

I have never been a particular fan of Chris Johnson. I was disappointed that the Braves cut bait on the plat soon with CJ and El Juan Chubbard so quickly. I hated the extension, and I ground along with everyone else at his performance last year.
That said, I think that Gov's case for his high side is probably about right. Last year, he just swung at ERRYTHING. He actually has a nice, uncomplicated line drive swing. If he would take a first strike once in a while and get back to his career norms for K/BB, he's could be a slightly-above average ML regular. Not panty-peeling prospect, sure, but in the year One AM (After Mukaki)...palatable.

I am not really concerned with debating about Chris Johnson anymore. I just want him to bounce-back enough with the bat where we can trade him ASAP.
