Spring Training 2015

Keith Law is very complimentary of the Braves farm system. Liked him saying, 'You could go 20 deep down the top prospect list and still be talking about guys who could contribute at the Major League level.'

Said the team needs to add offense, namely power. Doesn't see contention for 2 years.

.... and Johnny Gomes playing hard. I like it.

Haha, ok, Callaspo standing beside Panda makes me feel a little bit better about the weight concerns.

Honestly, he's a useful player as far as being good at third and having good contact skills. He has also hit well enough in the past before the weight issues, so if he can manage that a bit he should be able to hit a bit again. Further, it seems most here don't like him for other reasons such as the domestic violence. And I look at him differently now after hearing about that myself.

I like everything about having Gomes on the team except seeing him in the starting lineup.

Chris Johnson looks terrible today, he is chasing big time and everything.

If you watch Callaspo follow Chris Johnson on a day like today you appreciate his eye and contact skills more. :)

It was the only sensible course of action. Hopefully we don't suck too much this year but it will probably be the last year of sucking for a long time.

Yeah, we're sitting 29th in slugging in ST. I don't see that changing this season.

And, with regard to being good next year—we're probably going to need to find a couple of guys who can at least threaten to hit the ball close to or even over the fence.

With the way baseball is going, these singles are going to dominate the league.

Someone needs to tell Bowman that Eury Perez isn't a NRI (Non-Roster Invite). Perez was claimed off waivers from the Yankees and is on the 40-man roster.

Bowman also went ahead and gave him the 4A player label:

@mlbbowman
@ZTMoore2388 The more you watched him, the more he looked like a 4A player. Don't want to create roster spots for NRIs that fit that mold

That said, Bowman also took his usual shot at Ciriaco, which I found funny because what he said about Ciriaco always doing well in ST actually applies to his boy EY Jr. It also isn't true as last ST Ciriaco only hit .259 with a .634 OPS.
