Spring Training Gamethread/Discussion

Garcia won't even come close to a 3.53 FIP. But go ahead and be negative if you want. That's okay.

He probably won't. But unfortunately for the Braves road games count too where Maholm posted a FIP of 4.76 with an actual ERA of 5.91.

He's been strangely quiet through our so-far winless spring. Hope he is ok.

He already probably jumped off a building. He is about to come out of his coma. Hopefully we win a game in that time so he doesn't repeat this vicious cycle.

Garcia getting a 4.76 is close to best case scenario (if he pitches 1-3 months). I understand where you are coming from, since you pretty much admitted that you don't care about his stats before the Braves, but the guy has a long history and unfortunately that history has been pretty damn crappy for a couple years now. That matters WAY more than the four--FOUR--starts he made with the Braves.

Hursh with a solid first appearance. This guy could be the new Alex Wood and force his way onto the roster before you know it.

Last year when the Braves signed him my exact words were "If this move were happening 5 years ago I would be thrilled. But now, not so much. I hope we don't end up having to see him in the majors." But then he went out and did exactly what Ben Sheets did for the Braves in 2012, give us great innings and surprise everyone. Then he did it in the playoffs. Went toe to toe with Clayton Kershaw and put the Braves in position to win the game. He has earned the benefit of the doubt and a chance for this year.

Do you really believe 5 starts earns something?

Damn, La Stella lines out iwth the bases loaded. I wonder how hard he it and if the SS made a great play.

Does he have a favorite Braves player? Maybe we can arrange for him to visit niners in the hospital. It would lift his spirits.
