So a bench of Doumit/Pena/Pastor/Schafer/Laird sounds pretty good. Am I wrong?

A backup catcher

A guy who is an emergency catcher and LF

A guy who can play every outfield position

Hard to say how its going to hit because who knows if Pena from last year is more of what we are going to get in the future. Doumit historically has been a solid hitter and I believe Pastor will be a competant hitter. Not great hitting overall but I think it will be more than you think.

Who has "great" hitting on the bench?

I really like the look of our bench.

Sometimes a player will improve after their 25th birthday. Happens more often with pitchers, but once in a while you see it with hitters. I think Pena is one of those guys. I expect him to be our best bench player. And if Uggla doesn't bounce back to some extent, I would be fine with a Pena/Pastornicky platoon at second.
