Spring Training Thread

Soroka done after 36 pitches. It's hard to fully describe how awful the defense behind him was. Soroka's control and command were both bad. But he looks healthy and the velocity was good.

What are they saying? Obviously, the Bravos aren't often in the exciting position they are now so I want to soak in all the praise lol

Embarrassment of riches
Great lineup, great staff, and deep pen... no weaknesses
Acuna bout to be a superstar
Talking about how braves keep running up more studs
Braves the team to beat in east despite Mets money
The long deals by AA amazing

Thank god I don't have to watch that display of **** anymore (the team, not Soroka)... Soroka was pretty awful, but stayed healthy.. I would say it is a win in my book.. I wasn't expecting him to be 3 innings of no hit ball, but he definitely has some work to do to get back to his old self.. I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the minors for 75% of the season just to build confidence and control.

The team behind him should be shot into the sun...

I really feel like we put too much focus on the opening day roster. Within a few weeks it will be different. Guys will be up and down all the time throughout the season.

Who is there opening day really says very little about what they think of Grissom, Shewmake, or Arcia or who they expect to play all season long.

Let’s see where those guys are in a couple of months.

boy, I walked by my tv on in the other room just to see Ehire botch another play.. grounder off arm.. then from short right couldn't make a strong throw to get out a guy using a walker to score. So this is the guy we just had to have on the team?!?!?

When he gets stretched out, I think he has to get a shot in Atlanta. He, like Fried, has only one more year of control and decisions about the future rotation need to be made. He has always had a great mind for pitching and understanding what he needs to do to be successful. If he comes back and isn't effective (which I think is unlikely) we will likely think of him in the same manner as Steve Avery.

Tell you what fellas - rust and all, Mike had to feel so pumped to be pitching off of a mound in an actual game again. I mean, think about it - he’s been through what must be total hell for three dang years. Proud of that kid. I bet he’s back in ATL much sooner than some of y’all are saying- I think he’s up end of April at the latest, and he’s our bonafide number 1-C.

And if I’m actually right - and there’s a small chance I am - that would be the best starting four around here since Millwood and the big three ….
Just sayin

I don't know.. The one year of control is an interesting angle.. but I just think he is going to look bad for a while and won't really looking like Mike until June. we are talking 2 years away from any sort of throwing. He had a full offspring to get his arm stretched out.. it is just going to take games to get him back to Maple Maddux.

just saw the Arcia homerun.. dude didn't miss that hanger. I can't believe anyone would want someone other than him as our opening day SS.

He has a walk and rbi single to go with the HR. Robbed of another hit. The hate Arcia gets is weird. He's a decent player that's helped the braves while he's been here

Again, snit said it would be shewmake or Grissom. Why shouldn't people take him at his word even though he obviously incorrect?

It is funny. Some folks think the only reason Adrianza is on the roster is because of Snitker's preference for veteran Lairdership. I don't know if service time enters into it (perhaps to some degree), but I'm pretty sure the front office made the call on who's where come opening day.

Bullpen should be fine. Can't account for any possible injuries, but there's talent at the back end and some pretty good depth. Always nice to have a couple of guys who can go an additional inning if needed.

Excellent point. Any move we like, praise AA. Any move we don't like, snit made that one. Haha
