Perez is a right hander, isn't he?

I think I'll find ST more interesting than a lot of the first half of the actual season. I'm interested in seeing what our new top prospects look like. Watching guys like Aybar, Bud Norris, and whoever ends up being the stopgap at third isn't going to be as interesting. Things should become more interesting when we start graduating guys.

#Braves lineup today: Inciarte 8, Aybar 6, Freeman 3, Markakis 9, Garcia 5, Pierzynski 2, Olivera 7, Tuiasosopo DH, Peterson 4 (Perez 1)

Interesting lineup. Might show a bit how people stand right now. Freeman, Markakis, Inciarte, and Aybar are about where you'd expect.

Kind of surprised by Olivera, Garcia, and Peterson. I would have expected Olivera 5th. I know it's only one game and the first one at that but the fact that Adonis Garcia is hitting 5th and Olivera 7th is an indication of a little lack of confidence that Olivera's gonna be much of a hitter. If they really think Olivera's gonna hit .270 with 15+ HRs, you'd have him hitting 5th or maybe even 4th.

Peterson hitting 9th is kind of surprising too. Though that may be more about having another speedy table setter hitting alongside Inciarte and Aybar once the lineup turns over.

I know I'm overanalyzing the first ST roster. Just wondering if this perhaps reveals Fredi's impressions of some guys.

you are implying that Fredi actually gave the lineup some thought. I think he knew he wanted Ender/Aybar/FF/Nick.. but then just drew names to compete the order..

Yeah... I'm guessing Olivera must be a stud defender though...

Now you guys, the first spring training game hasn't even started and already dumping on poor Fredi. You never know, he might have studied his pants off over the winter months and may just surprise the lot of ya with his newly razor sharp baseball know-how and skillz.

I think you're 100% right, especially regarding how they view Olivera. If he doesn't prove himself enough this spring to bat in the top half of this putrid lineup, we can pretty much write him off as a bust.

I'd rather see Nick and his .350+ OBP in one of the top 2 spots, but it won't really matter much with this group of hitters.
