Starting over...who are the untouchables?

That lousy compensation pick sure would of been nice to get for Tex...

Provided you draft the right guy. I can go either way if it's absolutely certain Heyward is leaving.

One of Schuerholz' biggest downfalls as his career ended was his reluctance to think through his decisions on whether or not to offer arbitration to impending free agents. Lots of examples.

Could we get more for trading Gattis and Heyward in Seperate deals or packaging them together? Wonder if we could pull a Florida haul when they did their last fire sale? I think JUp would be cheaper and easier to resign and Heyward would bring more back

I will be livid if Jason Heyward is traded. That could be the biggest mistake the Braves could make in a long time. They need to pay the guy his money and keep him. I know some of you guys undervalue the guy because of his offense; but he's worth it and I completely stand by that.

The "untouchables" in my book:

1. Freddie

2. Heyward

3. Teheran

4. Wood

There's a good chance I'm in the minority here, but I'm not opposed to trades involving B-Court and Simba. I love them both, but defense isn't really what this team needs the most right now, it's offense. Simmons' bat could come around, but he's killing us right now and I think Gattis' is not only an incredible bat but he's way too important to this team to just trade. If we do trade him, I expect a large amount back

Ummm we always seem to have a lot of ground ball pitchers don't underestimate up the middle defense

Been discussed before.

With the new stadium, we have more money than people realize.

Not saying we'll have a LAD/NYY level payroll but they have enough money for Heyward and JUp, whether both would re-sign is a different story.

And did Minor die or something, he's the #3 starter heading into next year unless i missed something.

I'm probably one of Minor 's biggest supporters here but I think he's packaged with BJ to get rid of him. BIG FREAKING mistake to do that in my opinion, but I'm not the GM. What do you "Guys" think ?

I do not understand the total love for Heyward here. He is hitting right now .271 which is 9 points higher than his career average. Sure he is a great defensive player, but as a corner outfielder hitting a lifetime .262 with 20 HR and 70 average per year he is a far cry from an elite player. Bethancourt has shown me little in the way of offense or defense for that matter in his time up so far this year. To replace Gattis with him would be a huge mistake, I would trade CB long before I trade Gattis, remember this was only Gattis' first year as a starting catcher, he will improve defensively, and his offensive capabilities are way beyond what Bethancourt will ever show.

Ad far as starters the only 2 I would consider keepers are Teheran and Wood, Minor should be trade bait along with the entire outfield and 3b. I do not consider LaStella to be a major league starter, nor do I see Gosselin in that role either which means 2b needs to be addressed unless Peraza is all that some people think he is. Peraza would need to be a leadoff hitter and play 2b, is his lack of power any better than La Stella? He has a little more speed but his stolen base numbers are nothing to get excited about. I am not sure he is what is needed either, he has only played 44 games at AA.

Call me pessimistic but I see little in the Braves minor leagues system that reassures me we can right the ship quickly unless some great trades are made or free agent signings, which given the budget restraints will be tough.

Catchers don't age well but Gattis hasn't been catching all that long but CB is still a better defensive catcher whereas Gattis is a liability in lf. I would trade him for controllable talent but I respect ur opinion

What happens the year after when they bolt and we get an extra pick? Same scenerio.

Or maybe we win it all and get an expanded payroll to keep both of them.

Only way I remotely support trading Jason or Justin is if we nuke the team. Trade both of them, trade Minor, trade Kimbrel, trade Simmons, trade Gattis, and start from scratch and hope Freeman can be the centerpiece for that nuking.

Aside from that we should be in the playoffs next year returning as much of this team as possible. Even if we have Frediot managing this team, no Uggla and pretty much all worst case scenarios not happening, we should be fine.

The only thing we really had going fro us was positional health outside of Gattis. Aside from that we had a lot of unlucky players and seemingly less lucky ones. When looking to next year I think it's almost a given we'll see some better offense from Johnson and Simmons and I don't see any of our high performers except Gattis as a risk for heavy regression. BJ could improve, but I think he got up to his ceiling unless his power comes back. ANd we're automatically better at 2B even if he stick to the ill-fated platoon or start Gosselin, cause Uggla was that terrible.

Pitching we'll likely regress in the rotation and improve in the pen. Unless we can replace Santana's and Harang's produciton which I don't think is remotely easy to do, we're set for a worse set of starters. Though Minor rebounding will eat into that. Bullpen should be better, either cause Avilan isn't really as bad as he was this year, or we'll simply replace him with Shreve. And Hale should hopefully no longer get BP innings. He sucked a big one for us.

Minor's shoulder is a big concern. Gattis who knows how he will hold up. Simmons and CJ may or may not hit. Theirs alot of questions with this offense. Hell it was terrible. There will Def be a shakeup on offense.

Based off one rumor?

Our rotation next year is: Julio, Wood, Minor, ?, ?.

We'd need to fill 3 rotation spots plus depth if you trade Minor with little payroll flexibility.

I'm pretty opposed to the trade of Minor in anything. I know he has shoulder problems to worry about, but he's a guy that could be an easy number 2, a number 3 for his lowest... of course, healthy. I love the dude as a pitcher.
