Other possibilities: Banuelos, some of the guys listed for AAA, Kelly, additional signing(s) on FA market

There are a number of guys still out there on the FA market who could be useful both in 2016 and as assets to be flipped at some point. The supply of FA starting pitching is such that teams that are willing to be patient will get some bargains late in the off-season.

I think you're more likely to see Ellis in AAA to start than Newcomb. It makes sense to me to start Sims and Newcomb both back in AA with plans to move them up quickly if they perform well.

But it will definitely be exciting to multiple guys we care about starting just about every night, especially when you realize the lower minors will have Fried, Allard, Toussaint, Soroka, Sanchez, and then Sobotka and all those college arms we just drafted.

If things go right, without rushing anyone in 2018 we could have a rotation of Teheran, Wisler, Newcomb, Blair and Sims. That's the group that has the most upside among the guys currently in the majors and upper minors. By then the next wave--Allard, Soroka, Toussaint, Sanchez--will be in the upper minors. I think the pitching will come together a bit faster in the rebuild. The best position players are in the lower minors.

NO WAY Newcomb starts in Double-A. He will be closer to pushing for a MLB spot.

We'll see, but I think he will. He's made 7 starts above A+, and he walked 6 per 9 in those 7 starts.

I'm with you. He could have the ability to pitch in the majors but why rush him? we're not good, even if he's big league ready after ST. Stick him in the minors for 2 months and then save some money.

I agree although I personally believe Fried will be in there somewhere instead of Wisler, Blair, or Sims. Either way.. WOW. Has the potential to be special!

I have a feeling we might see the Braves sign a FA towards the end of January when one of them is stil sitting on the market. If they can get a guy at half price they should jump all over it.

I don't see him in Double A either. The Angels were wanting to promote him and struggled because of time....he was more than ready. And yes, I think he will be in Triple A, but the majors are an injury/service time away.

Folty will get to start in mlb to start the yr. last chance to avoid pen

I think we have to sign another vet if we can get a one yr deal. Fister would be great. Flip at deadline when Newcombe Blair etc will likely be ready

I'd love for us to chuck the one inning reliever model and go to a multi inning reliever model. Carry less pitchers. Guys like man ban folty viz winthrow gant could all excell pitching one time through line up only

I agree. Someone like Latos or Lohse.

The list of available free agent starting pitchers gets a little depressing when you consider nearly half the list are Braves retreads: Beachy, Flande, Harang, Edwin J., Minor, Wandy and Stults. I guess Arroyo counts, too.

Pretty amazing group. I don't want to see Williams Perez in the rotation though. Just very little upside and he should not be blocking Folty. Chacin will probably get a spot if healthy. I'm also not overly high on Banuelos. But to me the biggest mistake this organization can make is not giving Folty all of 2016 in the major league rotation seeing what we have. If he clicks as a SP, he might be the highest upside pitcher we have along with Newcomb.

Teheran/Wisler/Norris/Folty should be locked in. Then let Chacin/Banuelos/Perez battle it out in ST for the 5th spot.
