I don't really know the Reds' system, but it always seems like they have offense. If I were them, I'd go pitching at #2 to pitch in that bandbox.

Here's how I see the top 3 going. Philly will definitely take one of Puk or Groome at 1, Cincy will take Lewis, and one of Puk or Groome will be at 3 and we will take him. I see them going more for Groome than Puk actually. Riley pint and Senzel are the 2 I could see as possibilities if they finish strong.

Well, let's pray we can get Lewis. lol at least we won't have this issue next year! You know, with the number one pick and all!

Lewis is my guy. I think he'd make the transition relatively quick. I'm guessing the Reds are jackholes and go after him first. But if we are lucky, we have to do it.

Now I'm not upset with Groome or anyone else in the top 10 for the matter, but it's important we make a good choice. I like Ray a lot as well.

I think I like Senzel's bat more than Ray's. There is not a lot of swing and miss with Senzel. He's got great bat control. Ray still has some swing and miss. I think both may have 20 HR potential with 600 ABs. I think Senzel's glove will stick at 3B. I'm not sure Ray's glove will stick in CF.

I definitely would take Senzel over Ray. But I wouldn't take either one unless Groome and Lewis are both gone.

Groome is a talent, but I was reading somewhere that there may be some issues with his make up. Not sure what they meant by that.

As of now, 4 weeks from the draft, my top guys for the draft are in this order:
1. Kyle Lewis- imo the best bad
2. Jason Groome- could become the best pitcher in our system with stuff and pitchability
3. Corey Ray- would become easily a top 20 prospect in baseball and top 3 in our system
4. Moniak/Rutherford- top HS bats in the draft and I like them equally. Rutherford has more tools as of now, but is a year older than Moniak
5. Delvin Perez- just a thing, imagine a farm system with Swanson, Albies, Maitan, and Perez (LOL)

My top 4:

1) Groome - Sure, pitching is a relative strength in our system, but there's always a need for a potential TOR LHP. If he falls to #3, I'd be hard pressed to suggest passing on him. I think he would certainly ruin any plans of gaming our draft position, but I'd much rather have a potential franchise player at 3 than focus on depth in an already deep organization.

2) Lewis - Like others, I'm a big fan of what he brings to the table in conjunction with what our system needs the most. I don't know that he's actually one of the top 3 players in this draft, but he has upside and I could easily see him being a fixture in RF for years. I would also wonder if he'd be more open to a reasonable signing bonus.

3) Puk/Pint - If the other two are off the board, I can't think of a better option than taking either of these pitchers. I could see an argument for Pint being the most intriguing pitching prospect in the draft, and if you're not among the group that thinks he is, then go with Puk.

Don't know if Lewis loves the Braves enough being a local kid.

Heyward was also local but he said when he was drafted he was a Yankees fan as a kid (parents are from New Jersey).

It's probably a case of a kid reading his press clippings.

John Manuel of Baseball America said on Twitter today that he has heard Ray's stock is dropping.

That K/BB ratio just isn't good enough, IMO, to justify that high a pick. Lewis K's, but he walks far more, and you can live with it more when it comes with that kind of power.

Puk walks Senzel in their first meeting. Everyone on the field, including Senzel, thought a 3-2 slider was a strike ... except the umpire. Senzel then stole second on JJ Schwarz. He's now 20-21 in stolen bases this year.
