Some musings on Delvin Perez. Reds seem to have some interest.

I wonder how he compares with the Cuban fella they’re tied to who is nearly identical in profile.

Devious outcome: draft Perez, leverage him with the Cuban player to get one or both to sign for less. Can’t sign Perez? draft 3rd next year. Can’t sign the Cuban SS? Put serious cash into Maitan from Venezuela.

yeah.. good luck with that.. the Braves have already peed on him and marked him as theirs..

Ray does play in the 2nd best conference and is racking up while Lewis plays in one of the worst conferences in division 1

Southern Conference was ranked #19 out of 32 conferences last year, while Kris Bryant's WCC was ranked #15. While his conference is certainly a few notches below the SEC and other top conferences, it's not like he is running around dominating some JC conference. Kris Bryant did similar things in a similar conference, and he seems to be pretty good.

Ray's platoon splits are what turn me off of him. They were a serious concern for talent evaluators before this season, and I haven't read anything that suggests he has does anything to calm those concerns.

If Lewis is gone and the Braves want a college bat at 3, I would be all for Senzel on an under slot deal coupled with over slot guys at 40 and 44.

If Lewis is gone and Senzel will sign for well under slot, I can see that as making sense. Hard to pass on Groome or Pint, but they appear to be leaning toward a college bat. I think Moniak could also be in the mix, but that's another four- or five-year wait.

I don't see anyway the Phillies go with Lewis at No. 1. I think the Reds will go with either a SS prospect or a pitcher.

Ideally I just want someone that can really hit. If he stinks at d we can throw him in lf.

But I don't see any consensus that any of these bats are that strong.

Lots of ppl very down on Ray and Lewis. Groome is the only guy everyone seems to think is a top 5 guy

I don't know many people down on Lewis at this point. He probably has the highest ceiling in the draft.

Nick Senzel is that strong with the bat. He's going to hit, use all fields, have moderate power, and not strike out much.
