Actually, if you think about "looking for a deal at #3", it wouldn't be out of the question to take Ray there if they could get him for $4-$4.5 million. That would leave them that same $4-$4.5 million to spend on Benson or Anderson.

Would certainly fit the idea that he's our guy regardless of who's available. Coppy gets his college bat AND we get another high-ceiling bat or arm as well.

It's possible, but the article that mentions this specifically mentions that the Braves have been connected to high school arms in the draft.

Here is the article.

Joey Wentz, LHP, Shawnee Mission East HS (Prairie Village, Kan.), No. 16. Our No. 6-rated high school pitcher in a Draft deep in them, Wentz saw his velocity drop off slightly at the end of his senior season after he missed much of 2015 with a dead arm. To forgo his commitment to Virginia, he wants top-10-pick money. The assigned value for the 10th selection is $3,380,600.

I still feel the Pint/Wentz combo is a possibility, especially if you can get Pint to sign for $4.5 million at #3.

Will Benson, OF, The Westminster Schools (Atlanta), No. 38. Like Rutherford, Benson is a tooled-up high school outfielder whom scouts expected more from this spring. Word is that his family wants the same $4 million bonus that fellow Georgia prep outfielder Daz Cameron got from the Astros as a supplemental first-rounder a year ago.

To expand on that thought, if we could get Ray and either of Anderson or Benson for $4.5 million each we could still pay slot for every other pick we made through Round 7. If we signed our 8th-10th Round picks for $100,000 each, we'd still come in below the 5% overage we're allowed without surrendering picks.

Plenty of them out there without taking them in the first 40 picks. Anderson would be the first.

Hold on, Wentz is committed to Virginia? Great, now I'm gonna be pissed if he gets drafted and signs with someone, even the Bravos.

They did it to me, msstate7, and KB21 last year with Austin Riley. There's no worse a feeling than getting punched in the gut by your favorite team.

Just watched this BBA video. Not super newsy, but here's a synopsis. Clubs have makeup concerns with Groome and Puk, and Manuel seems to feel pretty confident the Phils won't take Puk and will take Moniak. Lewis and Moniak are thought to have great makeup. Manuel is high on Senzel and feels he has answered the questions that were there defensively. Belinsky has concerns with Lewis. Long swing, did not do as well at the Cape this year, and has mostly been facing pitchers with FBs in the mid-80s.

Yeah. Hoping they don't do it with Walker Robbins, but I got a feeling we may lose him to the draft. His brother was a high pick that went to school though, so maybe.....

OK. He did not do as well in the Cape?

.300/.344/.500 with 7 HR, 7 2B, 1 3B, 24 RBI, 2 SB, 11 BB, and 29 strike outs in 150 at bats.

Obviously, it isn't as good as what he did at Mercer, but it was among the best at the Cape.
