Stephen Drew decides not to sign until after the draft in June so he no longer carries draft pick compensation concerns. Uggla tanks at 2B, and TLS shows he is not quite ready in AAA. Perhaps CJ regreses substantially, or is injured. Maybe Simmons gets hurt.
Does Wren look to sign Drew after the draft to a mulit-year deal? Splurge on a high value 1 year deal since he can't be given a qualifying offer after this season if he signs mid-year?
It might be cheaper to give Drew the pro-rated portion of a $15M salary for one year than to trade for a fix at 2B at the deadline.
