-----------
Tanner Gordon, 6th-round pick in 2019, allows one hit over six innings. He was outstanding for Danville (RIP) in 2019, awful at Rome in May and pretty good now at Augusta.

Shane Baz got Michael Harris in the Futures Game, but came nowhere close to making him look bad.

Not a minor accomplishment considering the season Baz is having.

Baz and Max Meyer were both incredibly impressive, and Bobby Witt's going to be a star. Witt hit two balls on the nose (104+ mph EV) with nothing to show for them.

Tough day for Strider, as mentioned in the major league game thread. Threw 34 pitches, 11 of which were strikes. Got two guys out, but walked five with no strikeouts. All five guys scored.

I saw where Baz was part of that Chris Archer trade. Kind of interesting to go back to that one and see just how horrific that trade was for the Pirates.

Baz has a legitimate shot at being THE BEST part of that trade - really, really impressive. 77/8 K/BB Ratio this year - he's way ahead of where Glasnow was at the same point in their development. He was still walking tons of people when he was 22.

Nice AB from Waters - drew a walk. Laid off a couple pretty tough pitches. Actually looked better than most PAs I've seen him have at Gwinnett this year.

Pretty surprising considering you'd have expected him to trying to send something into orbit while hitting in Denver.

The Archer trade could end up rivaling our Len Barker trade in the pantheon of bad trades. Pirates actually got less innings out of Archer than we did out of Barker as difficult as that might seem to grasp. Add to that Barker was actually somewhat effective in his only full season with us (1984).

Franklin with another HR.

That dude is just not slowing down. It makes watching the minors a lot more fun. Between Franklin, Harris, Shea, and Waters we have a pretty good offensive group coming and that’s leaving off Pache and Contreras

What's makes what Franklin is doing even more impressive is that he didn't have any HRs in the first month of the season.

Just a guess on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tanner Gordon is back in Rome soon. He started the season there and had some rough sledding, but he's been dominant since he dropped back to Augusta. I always hesitate to make predictions on moving guys up because I'm not privy to the tech readings and metrics that teams use when making those decisions, but Gordon's surface stats in Augusta are pretty awesome.

Still a bit early but it looks like a good number of guys have stepped it up and put themselves into prospect chatter conversations at the least.

Good to see and at a time it was needed
