Minter with a clean inning save. We're gonna have to decide on Tomlin or greene to get minter back up. I like minter in the 5-6-7th inning... just not 8-9th

Can't imagine this was Wright's best game - big K numbers, sure, but his line on July 8th was...7 shutout IP, 1 hit, 6 Ks, 1 BB, and he threw 8 shutout innings with 4 hits, 5 Ks, and 2 walks last week (July 27th).

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but show me he can get deeper into games - if he's getting 11 people to chase in AAA, not much has necessarily improved. Every time he gets on a big league mound and gets nervous, half of those pitches aren't even competitive and MLB hitters will spit on another third of them. My guess is that major league hitters wouldn't have swung at a whole bunch of those pitches he got Memphis' hitters to go after.

Saw a klaw char from early July. Said Franklin and Harris have poor pitch recognition.

I'm not going to get too overwrought with guys playing their first season in full-season ball, but I'm starting to get a little concerned with the Braves' minor league hitting instruction. I don't know if pitch recognition is totally innate or if there is an instructional contribution to the process, but witnessing Pache's and Waters' struggles as they've reached AAA (and in Pache's case the majors) I am puzzled as to why these guys look to be so far from finished products. We've been rushing guys and I'm glad to see they are having Harris and Franklin stay put in High-A.

I find the comment about Harris a little bit off. The big concern on him early in the season was all about his walk rate. He walked 10 times in < 100 PAs in July. That's not stellar, but it shows that he can (and will) take a walk. Franklin's been up-and-down and he's been all-or-nothing lately, but I think he's done well given it's the first game action he's seen since 2019.

As with the pitching philosophy, I'm confused a little by the hitting philosophy as well. As you know, I'm a Pache super booster but I'm puzzled by his approach and confidence. He never looked this confused even as a slap hitter in his first two seasons. Bobby Moore helped him develop more launch in his swing and I was sure he was a.260-.270 hitter with sporadic pop. You even saw it at Turner Field and all star games.

A change in instructors and/or technique is a top down organizational thing correct? I would think what worked for hitters at lower levels needs to be tightened up as they move but not tweaked so much that it changes a prospects trajectory.

I'll use Rome again because I've seen them the most :
Bryce Ball -.206/.735OPS 59KS. Before he was traded.
Jesse Franklin -.254/.876OPS 44Ks.
Michael Harris -.288/.751OPS 47Ks.

I'm not privy to what is discussed but I see instructions given. Ball was all or nothing, Franklin (grew on me), I like but SO rate has to come down. Harris....much the same as Franklin. Their setup appears to be good. Hack and slash?

The Braves also just churned out Acuña, Albies, Riley, and Swanson. 3 of those 4 are or are looking like absolute stars right now. The other is a solid player. We were bound to miss on one eventually.

Would you have said the same thing about Riley a year ago? The thing that gives me hope about Pache and Waters is that Riley struggled mightily in his first two seasons and looks to have figured it out in Year 3. Acuna and Albies have pretty much been all-world from the get-go so I don't know how they could have fallen flat on their faces unless instructed to do so.

Swanson was the same way till he became a decent hitter
