It was a lie from the AJC. The only stipulation is that safety regulations are followed. If so, no one is barred from selling parking.

Much of the backlash about this move has been either from the city of Atlanta, who I have no sympathy for, or national outlets like Deadspin who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

I get why they did it in secret. ATL and the Ted had given them the finger on upgrades and structural improvements\repairs many, many times. Couple that with the desire to increase the Braves revenue stream in other ways for a multi use facility and this is what you get. It isn't right, but I see why.
