Tax Bill

Got my first paycheck with the new rates... nice having a few hundreds bucks a month extra in the pocket.

er, sorry... 30 pieces of silver

But the deficit is only one part of the debt.

do you know that another part of the debt is
we are still paying on WWII
as well as Native Americans on treaties signed in the 19th century. --
The debt is interesting and far more complex than simply "cutting spending"

I disagree with cutting spending as a be all and end all solution.
Like deficit and debt spending is one aspect. But far from the total picture

Your concern was raising the debt ceiling, correct?

One way to avoid that, is to not have a deficit.

The easiest and smartest way to not have a deficit is to cut spending.

my concern was they (you) went off half cocked on this tax give away with out weighing the long term, and even in this case short term, ramifications.

The debt ceiling ,the debt and the deficit are 3 completely different issues.

Remember i said I would take a wait and see attitude ?
If this is the level of thinking through a complex issue ...

1/1 When Trump says that some families will get a temporary bonus/tax cut of $4k, Dems should say

we would have given them for the same expense free college/vocational school, high speed internet,

daycare, 6 weeks paid leave, and a $5k raise (if making under $100k).

2/2 Yes, we should point out that Trump’s $4k number is wrong.

But we need to fight numbers with numbers. Lofty rhetoric isn’t enough.

Trump is making a specific pitch about how he will make people better off.

We need to be concrete and simple in how we will help them.

I strongly encourage the Democrats to campaign on the message that they believe the government should dictate how that money gets spent, in lieu of those voters getting a raise and bonus and paying less in taxes.

The debt ceiling was no concern of your until a R took office.

The federal deficit in 2017 was $666B - a staggering number that was unheard of until the Obama years.

Now you've given that spending authority over to a madman. Just like you gave massive surveillance powers.

I'm sorry I'm; not going to cry about Americans and businesses getting to keep what is theirs. The easiest way to eliminate deficits is cut spending, but the minute someone proposes that you post a tweet about the GOP wanting to kill an old disabled black person while the Koch brothers are still rich

It's always been interesting to me that the more money the government spends, the more the wealth gap spreads and the rich get richer.

Is that interesting to you, too?

It's because Obama waved a magic wand and the whole land received the best healthcare at affordable rates.

BUT HE CAN'T SAVE SEARS

I laughed pretty good at this. Had an old insurance agent for Sears in my office yesterday. Sears used to own Coldwell Banker, Allstate, and Morgan Stanley Dean Whitter financial and solicited those products in store. He said they killed it, but Sears wanted to tell the customer what to buy (on the retail side) instead of companies like WM letting the consumer decide how and where to spend their money. Never adapted to the change happening in front of their eyes. Sold off what ended up being the most successful ventures of all of them... That's horrific business sense...
