Teams You Root For and Against

I was watching the Nats/Pirates game last night (back and forth with Braves/Brewers) and was wondering are there any teams you generally root for when they're not playing the Braves? Conversely, which teams do you generally root against? For me, it's:

For: Pirates, Cubs

Against: Nationals, Dodgers, Phillies, Cardinals

The Mets used to be on my "anti" list and (if they ever turn things around) might return there. However, at this point in time, I just can't come close to mustering the venom for NY that I once did.

The Cubs are so historically inept that I'd like to see them win a WS simply because they haven't done so in my lifetime or the lifetime of my great grandfather for that matter.

My dislike for the Dodgers goes back to their wearing us out when we were both in the NL West. Granted, it's a lot more difficult to despise a team we only play six times annually. Similarly, I have a great respect for the Cardinals franchise but their fans and their announcers perpetually convey the attitude that they're "G-d's gift to baseball" and it gets old. Philadelphia is simply a nasty, classless fan base in a nasty, classless city. Wanting the Nats to lose (as a Braves fan) warrants no further explanation.

I like this thread a lot! The Braves are my number one through it all, but it's really interesting to think about, I'll go...

NL for: Braves, Pirates

AL for: Rays, Mariners

Against NL: Phillies, Nats

Against AL: Yankees...

Only like the Braves.

Pull against: Cards, Nats, Phils.

About it.

Since I only actively root for the Braves, I'll phrase it this way. If the Braves didn't win the World Series, I'd be either fine or indifferent with every team winning, except the following (not in actual order, but just going by division):

Nats
Phillies
Mets
Cardinals (Because **** Sam Holbrook. Other than that, I respect the organization immensely)
Dodgers
Yankees

Some teams I can tolerate more than others. I don't root for anyone, but the Braves though.

Rays, Diamondbacks, and Rockies are teams that I can deal with. Cardinals, Red Sox, Nats, and Giants are my most hated.

Seeing a couple people in here say that they root for the Braves, after seeing their behavior day in and day out. I haven't had a laugh like that in a while.

Obviously a Braves fan. Root against Yanks and Giants. I get their season win total to go under.

Braves

like Rays, Jays, Mariners, Royals, both Chicago teams (Chicago born so they will always be in my heart as a second team)

Dislike due to media than the team itself

G-Nats
Skanks
Doggers
Philthies
Red Sucks

If ESPN quit pushing the above in my face I can tolerate them, but they can't let go of their douchbaggery.

Yeah, I get tired of the Worldwide Leader pushing their faves - Yanks, Mets, Red Sox, Phillies, Nats.

The World, it seems, starts at one end of the megalopolis and ends at the other.

As for me, I'm getting into the Mariners a bit in my new hometown and I'm always glad when a perennial underdog starts putting it together, like the Pirates and Brewers now.

The A's have been my American League team for a long time...going back to the Jackson/Bando/Rudi/Hunter/Blue/Fingers dynasty.

In general I root against the big market teams.

Braves always first. Teams I pull for if it doesn't affect the Braves in the standings:

Red Sox

Reds

Cards
