Texting/Talking while driving

I love ratting on people who are complete morans.

The wife and I were driving around looking for a good place to take our kids fishing when we'd noticed the car ahead of us was weaving. It almost hit the revetment, but I did not want to go around them for the fear of it side swiping me. Since my wife had a camera on her at all times, she took a picture of the driver texting and the license plate. Since the police are out all the time, I stop next to one and ask the officer what do they do with drivers who are texting. He said without evidence, nothing. He ask did we have any. My wife came out with her camera (she has one of those Rebels) and had the grinning fat ass woman finger squarely texting and she had another pic with her license plate. Officer was nice and told us it was excellent what we did, he brought up on the screen, been in trouble before and he said he will make a visit.

I don't know how nor ever want to know how to text. I hate even talking on the phone while driving, but it pisses me off when I see people doing either or and not paying attention.

I don't like it either but I can't say I've never done it. Its a big issue and eventually phone companies are going to have to coordinate with the car companies that texting will be disabled while the car is in motion.

Yeah the cop and the wife was talking about that very thing. I can understand the police needing this, but our technology could tell via GPS your car is in motion but then people who are passengers will gripe about it.

I'm reading this and texting at the same time while driving to work.

For me I don't do it in high traffic. Generally do it at stop lights or if I clearly have cars 100 yards ahead and behind me on the freeway.

With my blackberry I never had to look at the screen when texting because of muscle memory. With Samsung I can't type without looking because of screen but I can swype.

I'm consistently amazed at how people take the responsibility of operating a motor vehicle so lightly. Texting and driving is really no different than driving drunk.

I got hit while riding my bike by a young woman who was busy on her phone. Whatever she was doing was apparently more important to her than the lives of other road users.

Not singling you out my friend but I am curious is it work related when you are texting. I can understand if you are stuck in traffic or a stop lights. I just can't do it, I do not trust any driver but myself when out on the road. As for drinking, I only drink at home, DWB is a dangerous enough if they watch you coming out of the bar. Do not want to lose my job just for a drink.

DWB...thats awesome.

One of the neighbors is a cop and he verified what I have known a long time, DWB is true but they don't do it to me because I lived there for awhile now and only had one ticket (county cop - no warning, wrote it out and said see you in court).

SC just passed a law; $50 fine for texting and driving but the next month will be a grace period.
That law is a joke. Anyone who causes an accident while texting and driving should lose their license for a period of time.
Texting and driving is here to stay and will only get worse.

An Asian texting while driving? :Gasp:
My worst fear.

I haaaate seeing people do this. You're driving a couple ton killing machine. Pay attention to the road. 99% of issues can wait.

I hate that ****. And certainly don't do it with me in the car. I want to live forever.
