If this turns out to be the case, I look forward to people keeping their same arguments but crossing out “immigrants” and “border security” and replacing with “Muslims” and “liberal soft-on-crime policies” without a single retraction or second thought.
You can’t put the rabbit back in the hat once you’ve pulled it out. If this turns out to be an American citizen who did this, there will still be a significant amount of people who believe Biden and Mayorkas let these people in New Orleans die because Donald Trump and his followers blamed this on the border.
Edit: to be clear, it could be an immigrant (legal or not) that did this. I’m not suggesting it’s figured out yet.

Reactionaries (including the President-elect) using a terror attack by a US citizen to demonize immigrants would not amount to absolutely nothing. If CNN spent all morning claiming this was a Trump supporter and calling for all white men to be arrested, I’d object too.
I don’t have anything else to add about the people who died beyond noting it is a tragedy and I condemn the act.
Can you refresh my memory on the last mass-casualty terror attack committed by an undocumented immigrant let in by Joe Biden? Otherwise you’re just pointing to random crimes done by migrants, a thing they do at a lesser rate than citizens.
Most of the crimes from illegals haven't been mass causality but assuming it very well could be here doesn't mean you're a bad person. We lost 3,000 people during 9/11.
You're following stats from the FBI that has also said right-wing extremists were the problems in these events. They also said crime was going down during Biden's presidency but now we now know that wasn't correct. They even said this wasn't a terrorist attack at first.
You can believe the stats but I won't. Not because I'm a conspiracy theorist but because I'm paying attention.
Don't come in here and talk down to others for being alert to real issues while you keep your head in the sand.

The real issues like stopping domestic terrorists by securing the border? I am 100% in favor of zero-tolerance immigration policies for violent crimes. But until someone can show me that being a migrant/Muslim/black person/transgender/communist makes you a violent criminal, I’m going to keep calling bull**** on arguments that support treating migrants in general as a threat.
The vast majority are good people navigating a world of challenges and poverty to escape even harder challenges and poverty in their home countries. Countries, by the way, that are in no small part that way because of US foreign policy over the past 200 years. Like any other population of people, there will be crime within it. If a good person who has been here working and contributing positively to our society is deported and gets killed in their home country, I find that every bit as horrifying.
